Answer: Prompt Becoming a Lifelong Learner Learning a language opens doors to a world of opportunity. Of course, in order to really benefit from your studies, you’ll need to do more than just complete assignments. You’ll need to set habits that will tie you to French and its cultures even beyond the classroom. Students who become lifelong learners of French have some basic characteristics and habits that you should develop if you want to get the most from your experience learning French Here are some of them: Lifelong learners: Have friends with whom they regularly converse in the target language. (This could be friends in school, neighbors or friends in the community.) Regularly get information from target language sources (newspapers, magazines, Internet French related news group (with parent’s approval), TV programs, radio, etc. that are produced by and for native speakers.) Participate in activities of the target culture (celebrating holidays, seeing movies or plays of/in the target culture, preparing or eating dishes from the target culture, reading books or magazines from the target culture, etc.) Someone who has developed these habits is on the way to becoming a lifelong learner. These types of habits reinforce a strong connection to the language and culture and develop a love and better understanding of that culture. Think for a minute about the resources available. Do you have friends who are native French speakers? Do you ever watch French channels on television? You can probably think of several online sources. Maybe you have some stores or restaurants in your community that are run or frequented by French speakers. Also think about when you could do this on a regular basis—remember that it’s setting the habits that will make the most difference. Using the table below as a guideline, write what you plan to do. For the Language or Culture Resources column, try to identify three different resources: 1. A friend or contact 2. An information source, and 3. A cultural activity. In the What I Will Do column, describe as specifically as you can what you will do. And in the When I Will Do It column, write when you plan on doing these activities. See the sample below to see how you might fill out your own table. You will have opportunities to follow up and report on your regular practice of engaging French resources close to home. You will be asked in a follow up assignment to report on what you have done. Language or Culture Resources: What I Will Do: When I Will Do It: 1 1 1 2 2 2 3 3 3 *Sample: Language or Culture Resources: What I Will Do: When I Will Do It: 1. French exchange student 1. I will practice French…. 1. M-F between 9 and 10 am. 2. French newspaper: JDD.fr 2. I will read an article a week 2. Every Tuesday at 3:00pm 3. French films 3. I will see a French film every month 3. The first Friday of every month. If you are still unsure where to begin, ask your teacher for additional ideas that can help get you started. Regardless of how you go about making your French cultural connection, be sure to make a plan and to think about a longer-term strategy for getting the most from your time with your chosen resources. **Start your plan next week. You will report on this assignment towards the end of the semester. The final report will be worth 50 points. This assignment is worth 20 points.

Estimate the sum of 196 and 482

Answers

we know that

A quick way to estimate the sum of two numbers is to round each number and then add the rounded numbers

case a) We round the number to the nearest hundred

so

196 Round up is equal to 200

482 Round up is equal to 500

Find the estimate sum

200+500=700

case b) We round the number to the nearest tens

so

196 Round up is equal to 200

482 Round down is equal to 480

Find the estimate sum

200+480=680

196 --> 200
482 --> 480

200

"Substitute the information you know into the formula  d = r times t .
Then  solve the equation"

Nobody can say it any easier than that.

In #2, you know that  'd'  is  60km  and  't'  is  4 hours.
Substitute them into the formula  d = r times t

         60 km  =  'r'  times  (4 hours)

Divide each side of the equation by (4 hours):

         60km / 4 hours =  15 km/hour  =  ' r '

Don't make something hard out of something easy.

2) I'm using r for rate .If it's 60km in 4h that means that 1/4=r/60 which means you can cross multiply it and it'd be 60=4r. If you divide 4 on both sides it would be 15=r. The rate is 15km and hour.

3) For this one, it's the same. You have to put 1/12=r/24 and cross multiply. It would be 24=12r then you divide both sides by 12 and you get 2=r.

4) It says d=r*t. For this problem, d=56 and r=8 if you substitute it you would have 56=8t and if you divide both sides by 8 you would have 7=t.

5) d=r*t. This means that if you substitute it, you would have d=25*160. 25*160=4000 so d=4000

What is, 18 5/12+8 10/17+23 7/12+28 7/17

Answers

18 5/12 + 8 10/17 + 23 7/12 + 28 7/17

First change them to improper fractions

18 5/12 = 221/12

8 10/17 = 146/17

23 7/12 = 283/12

28 7/17 = 483/17

now find the common denominator which would be  204

221/12 =  3757 /204

146/17 =    1752 /204

283/ 12 =    4811 /204

483/ 17 =      5796 /204

now add

(3757 + 1752 + 4811 + 5796) = 16,116/204

now divide

16,116 ÷  204 =  79

Your answer is D. 79

Hope this helps. :)
