In Hinduism the soul can get reincarnated a lot of times, in which the soul would get a new body each time, the only way to break the chain of reincarnation is to attain perfection and become one with the divine creator.

In buddhism, there is not such a great relationship with a creator.
The founder of the religion was Siddhartha Gautama who was a prince, and then put himself under a process of understanding the true nature of things and self-relization. He sat under the bodhi tree and began meditation for some time and became the enlightened one (Buddha). The ultimate goal for any buddhist is to be enlightend and achieve a state of mind that can overcome the pain of our struggles (such as death etc.).
