What term is used to describe the process by which agents are carried from one place to another because of erosion?
Dear Principal Corte,I write to you with a concern that requires immediate attention. It is my belief that the lunch period at Mountain Vista High School is not long enough and should be lengthened. The most important reason that our lunch period should be extended is so that all the students at Mountain Vista High School have a chance to eat. As it stands now, many students are unable to get through the lunch line and eat lunch. Even if the lunchroom staff are extremely efficient and able to get everyone through the line, some students end up with only a few minutes to eat their lunch. I have spoken with the school nurse about this issue, and she says that eating too quickly is a very unhealthy habit. Consequently, some students have become so frustrated with the long lines that they have resorted to getting their lunch from the vending machines, and everyone knows that a candy bar and a can of soda is the worst possible lunch a person can eat. The fact of the matter is that if the lunch period is extended, then all the students will make it through the lunch line and will be able to eat their lunch in a healthy way. In addition, the lunch period should be extended because it would give students additional time to study or finish up homework. Those of us who take part in after-school activities or have jobs often don’t get home until late in the evening. Then, after we eat dinner, we are usually too exhausted to put our best effort into our homework. If we had more time at lunch, many of us would complete our homework properly. I truly hope that you take my arguments under consideration, Principal Corte. Please see the attached petition with almost 2,000 signatures of students who share my opinions about extending the lunch period. Take this petition as a sign that there are many of us who are not completely happy with our experience at Mountain Vista High School. Mountain Vista High School is important to me, and I believe that students should get the best: extend our lunch period, and you will definitely get the best from us. Sincerely, Alexis Walters Which step, if implemented, will most weaken the author’s case for extending the lunch break? A. installing additional candy and soda vending machines in the cafeteria B. allowing students to decide on the cafeteria menu choices C. giving additional homework to the students and encouraging them to participate in after-school activities D. introducing a homework period after lunch to allow students to complete their unfinished homework

Carefully reread the following sentence: “When Jane Austen wrote Pride and Prejudice she published the text anonymously because during the time period in which she lived female authors are not respected in society.” Which word in the sentence above is in the inappropriate verb tense? [L.8.1.d] A. wrote B. published C. lived D. are

Hey there! The answer would be D because the paragraph is talking in past tense about the author until this point. It should be "female authors were not respected" instead of are. Hope this helped! :)

Which sentence does not have an error in subject and verb agreement?A.
The sun, warm and sunny, were shining on the lake.

B.
A slim chance at success was my only hope for the future.

C.
Muddy shoes and a rain-soaked jacket was in a heap on the floor.

D.
Don't a combination of oil and vinegar make a good dressing on the salad?

Answers

I would also have to say B is the correct answer. Your verb is was and it agrees with chance, which in this case is your noun because at success would be a prepositional phrase. Small is an adjective that describes chance.

Hopefully this helps and good luck!!  :)

B. The other sentences either have singular subjects with plural verbs (the sun... were shining;       don't a combination... make) or plural subjects with singular verbs (shoes... was).

Identify the verbal and its function in the sentence:We were hoping to begin a game of chess. (5 points)
It is a participle functioning as an adverb.
It is a participle functioning as an adjective.
It is an infinitive functioning as an adverb.
It is an infinitive functioning as an adjective.

Answers

Infinitives can be identified by the presence of "to" after some verbs. They have a very specific function and mostly appear after the action, which in the sentence is "hoping". The right answer is the third one: an infinitive functioning as an adverb. A verbal seems to be a verb, but its function is to complement a verb and plays the role of a different part of speech. "To begin" is an adverb because it modifies the action of hoping, it gives additional information of what is being expressed.

im sorry i do not know the answer but the verified persons answer is not correct... i did the test and their answer was not right.

Just warning others.

It is not participle functioning as a adjective

Hope that this will help

Which personal pronoun agrees with its antecedent and correctly completes the sentence? Each child was allowed to pick out __________ clothes for the day.
a. your
b. our
c. their
d. his or her

Answers

C because it tells the readers that the children picked out their own clothing. The sentence didn't specify on the gender so it wouldn't be D. The children aren't picking out your clothing, that sounds weird so it wouldn't be A. They aren't picking out our clothing so it isn't B.
