Answer 1
Answer:

Answer:

Explanation:

While at a friend's house watching a horror movie snow began to fall. It was late October and trees were still full of leaves. I said my good byes and began my trip to my apartment. As I was driving, I began to understand the danger I was in. The storm was quickly developing and heavy snow splashed on my windshield. A car crash being handled by firefighters required me a detour. Along a road I barely knew tree limbs began to fall, weighed low by the heavy snow. Luckily, I made it back to my apartment complex, where, with power out, someone had pried the gate open. I parked next to a neighbor's car with a tree on it. I worked my back towards my place in a complete blackout, then blazing light when the sky was lit completely blue by exploding transformers.

That next week there was no power for much of the region. Some parts of Connecticut were without power for 2 weeks. It's important to be prepared for winter weather before winter. If you lose power, heating, cooking, even getting money can be complicated. Having a car helped, but getting gas was difficult because most gas stations didn't have generators to power the pumps. The few gas stations that had power didn't have telephone lines to take credit card payments. Grocery stores allow for cash back on transactions which got us cash while ATMs were inoperable. Prepare just a few things mentally. I know in retrospect I wich I had!

What is the author's purpose for "the fall"?

Answers

Answer:

"The Fall" is a novel written by Albert Camus. The author's purpose for the book is to explore existential themes and the human condition, particularly the themes of guilt, self-deception, and moral responsibility.

Explanation:

1. Provoking Self-Reflection: One of the author's purposes in "The Fall" is to challenge readers to reflect on their own lives and question their own moral choices and actions. The protagonist, Jean-Baptiste Clamence, engages in a self-reflective monologue, prompting readers to examine their own sense of guilt and responsibility.

2. Critiquing Society: Camus uses "The Fall" to critique societal norms and conventions. The book takes place in a seedy bar in Amsterdam, where Clamence recounts his story to an unknown listener. Through Clamence's narrative, the author raises questions about human hypocrisy and the façade of morality in society.

3. Exploring Existentialism: Camus was a prominent existentialist philosopher, and "The Fall" embodies existential themes. The book delves into the existential crisis faced by Clamence, who grapples with the meaning of life, the nature of existence, and the burden of guilt. Camus uses Clamence's story to explore the human struggle for identity and purpose.

4. Challenging Moral Certainty: The author also seeks to challenge the reader's preconceived notions of right and wrong. Clamence's story blurs the lines between guilt and innocence, forcing readers to question traditional moral frameworks and consider the complexities of human behavior.

Overall, "The Fall" serves as a thought-provoking exploration of existentialism, moral responsibility, and the deceptive nature of human existence. Through his narrative, Camus invites readers to reflect on their own lives, challenge societal norms, and question the nature of morality.

Answer:

The correct option is "told"

Explanation:

As it can be seen,  most of the abstract provided, belonging to the introduction to Kenny’s personal narrative, “Best Friends.” is written in past tense; either past perfect, past progressive or simple past. Therefore, from the options of the verb (to) tell listed, the one that correctly would fill the blank is "told".

In this sense, the sentence would result as follow: So when Karim’s parents told us that they were moving across the country,  we didn’t believe it, and we didn’t know how our friendship would survive.

The correct one is told.
