The primary purpose of the Kyoto Protocol was to minimize greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
The Kyoto Protocol was an international agreement that aimed to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and the presence of CO2 in the atmosphere. The Kyoto Protocol's core assumption was that industrialized nations needed to reduce their CO2 emissions.
Over the five-year period 2008-2012, the pact obliged 37 industrialized countries and the European Union to reduce their GHG emissions by an average of 5% below 1990 levels.
Hence it can be said that the primary purpose of the Kyoto Protocol was to minimize greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
