In chunk 4 for how does the relationship between Jing meis mother and auntie Lindo contribute to the conflict between jing mei and her mother in the story ?

Answers

Answer and explanation:

Jing-mei, her mother, and aunt Lindo are characters in Amy Tan's short story "Two Kinds". Jing-mei is a willful and intelligent child, but she is not happy with her mother's expectations of her. Jing-mei's mother wants her to become a child prodigy, a Chinese Shirley Temple or something of the kind. At the beginning, the daughter is a bit excited about the idea of receiving so much attention and being recognized for her talents. After a while, however, she gets bored from the hard work and impositions, and decides to disappoint her mother.

Aunt Lindo has a daughter similar in age to Jing-mei. When she comes to Jing-mei's house to visit, she is constantly complaining about her daughter. She says she's tired of having to clean all the trophies her daughter wins in chess competitions. That veiled bragging only fuels Jing-mei's mother's ambition even more. She becomes determined to prove that her own child is also a genius, tha she deserves more fame and attention than her friend's daughter. That attitude, of course, is not aligned with Jing-mei's. The relationship between her own mother and aunt Lindo becomes another source of nuisances and expectations for her future.

Oo is this the joy luck? I just read that at school! Anyways, they are both competitive, auntie Lindo is showing off, but jing meis mom is just making things up to make her jealous. Auntie lindo believes that she is good until the talent show

Read lines 45-59 of the book scary tales: What is Torrance's view about telling children scary stories? What is one counterargument that she provides?Write the claim, counterclaim and text evidence

PLS HELP ME I WILL GIVE BRAINLIEST

Answers

Answer:

Claim: Children need to be frightened. We all do. It’s an emotion that was given to all of us and it should be exercised. When you don’t exercise it, you lose your sense of fear.

Counterargument: A lot of people have told me I really shouldn’t tell children scary things.

Rebuttal: Well, children can frighten themselves without  your help. When they’re alone in bed they hear things and  they see things. So I just help them along.

Explanation:

It is often thought that children need to be frightened. However, what this argument fails to consider is that Torrence grew up listening to scary tales from her grandfather and therefore has adapted to fear. In the text, it says that Torrence was afraid of keyholes because her grandfather told her in the dark monsters would lock her there. This shows at some point the author herself changed in the way she thought about scary tales but only because someone else scared her. Although children can frighten themselves without scary tales it is of their own volition. This means that children, either way, will never lose their sense of fear as a personal experience. Scary tales teaches one to be more cautious.
