Ben is 4 times as old as Ishaan. 6 years ago, Ben was 6 times as old as Ishaan. How old is Ishaan now?

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: The correct answer for the question that is being presented above is this one:

Let x = Ishaan's age
Let 4x = Ben's age

x = 4x

6 years ago
x-6 = Ishaan's age
6(x-6) = Ben's age

x - 6 = 6 (x - 6)
x - 6 = 6x - 36
-5x = -30
x = 6

Ishaan's age = 6 + 6 = 12
So, Ishaan is 12 years old.

How do you do equations on both sides.

Answers

If you give an example of a problem you are having trouble with, I can help walk you through it.
hello , to do equation on bother sides; these are the steps i use personally
e.g.
5x-4=2x+14
you would subtract 2x from both sides so it will simply to...
3x-4=14  (do the opposite to the 4 in this case it is subtract and the opposite is add so you would add 4 to the 14 as following)
3x=14+4
3x=18
(divide 18 by 3 )
x=6
hope this helps it is quite confusing but once you practise a few questions you will get the hang of it.
