Locate the infinitive and identify its use. I don't really want to write that letter, but I should.noun adjective adverb

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: adverb

An infinitive almost always begins with “to” and is followed by the basic form of the verb. It is usually in this form:

To + Verb = Infinitive

An infinitive is NOT a verb, so s, es, ed, or ing should not be added to the end. Infinitives can be used as nouns, adjectives or adverbs. According to the pattern of what an infinitive should be, “to cook” is the infinitive of this sentence and it functions as a noun.

When is it unnecessary to follow a direct quotation with a parenthetical citation that includes the name of the source

Answers

Parenthetical citations are not needed when the direct quotation is common knowledge.

Things that fall into the category of common knowledge are proverbs or well-known quotations. "To be or not to be" would not be cited because it is part of common knowledge. "A rising tide lifts all ships" is a proverb that would not be cited. Parenthetical citations are used to identify the source of the quotation. They typically include the author's last name and page number (if available). If the author's name is unknown, the title of the work is used. When the author and/or title of the work has been stated in the introduction to the quote, then only a page number would be needed.

In at least 100 words, explain why the story of Shahrazad and the evil king in The 1001 Nights is considered a frame story. Please help!

Answers

Answer:

"1001 Nights" is a well-known book that collects different stories from Arabia, Persia, and other middle east countries.

Explanation:

The book's main plot is about an evil king who would marry one girl each night of the year, only to chop her head off by the end of that same night. A woman called Scheherezade steps in and volunteers to spend the night with the king. Once in the royal chambers, she manages to distract the king and begins to tell an exciting tale that catches the ruler’s attention. Just before dawn she stops her storytelling and promises the king she will finish the story the following night. The man lets the woman live so he can listen to the end of the story the night after, but in reality, the woman has a plan. The next day, the woman continues the narration but instead of finishing it she tells a new story inside of the main one. That night she stops the second story before dawn, just to continue it the following day. This way, the storytelling never stops. Night after night she delights the king with her narration abilities. This goes on for 1001 nights, and by the end of that time, they already have children together.

This method of telling a story inside another story is called frame narrative or frame story. This literary technique is used to emphasize the secondary story or stories after the introduction of the main narrative.

The story of Scheherazade and the evil king is a frame story because it is a basis and a solid basic structure on which bigger things can be built for all the other stories. It is a literary technique that serves as a companion piece to the  story within a story. The Arabian Nights is a collection of stories by Islamic authors. Though each collection features different stories, they are all centered around the frame story of Shahrayar, Shahzaman, and Scheherazade. Scheherazade is the primary storyteller of The Arabian Nights.
