Answer 1
Answer: The answer is A) -3/2

To answer this question you basically have to re write this equation, so you have something that equals x/y

First cross multiply: (3)/(2)= (2x)/(2x+y) is the same as 3(2x+y)=2(2x) then you simplify getting 2x=-3y divide by 2 on both sides and get x= (-3y)/(2) and finally divide by y on both sides and get (x)/(y) = (-3)/(2) , so (-3)/(2) is the answer :)

Corrine has 9.6 pounds of trail mix to divide into 12 bags .How many pounds of trail mix will go in each bag?

Answers

Corrine has 9.6 pounds of trail mix to divide into 12 bags then the total amount of trail mix in each bag is 0.8 pounds and this will be determined by using the arithmetic operations.

Given :

  • Corrine has 9.6 pounds of trail mix.
  • Total number of bags = 12.

The following steps can be used to determine the amount of trail mix in eachbag:

Step 1 - Divide 9.6 by 12 that is, the total amount of trail mix by the total number of bags.

=(9.6)/(12)

Step 2 - Simplify the above expression.

=0.8

You and your friend are selling tickets to a charity event. You sell 8 adult tickets and 6 student tickets for $126. Your friend sells 12 adult tickets and 13 student tickets for $209. What is the cost of a student ticket?

Answers

s=cost per student ticket
a=cost per adult ticket

value=(students vlue)+(adults value)
student value=(cost per student) times number of students
adult value=(cost per adult) times number of adults

you sell 8 adult and 6 students and that is a value of 126
8a+6s=126

friend sell12 adult and 13 student and get 209
12a+13s=209

so we have
8a+6s=126 and
12a+13s=209
it might help to simplify  the first equaiton by dividing by 2
4a+3s=63

we have
4a+3s=63
12a+13s=209
multiply first equaton by -3
-12a-9s=-189

add to secont equaiton

12a+13s=209
-12a-9s=-189 +
0a+4s=20

4s=20
divide 4
s=5

each student ticket costs $5.00
