The cells that are on each side of a stomata and open and close it like a mouth are called _____. guard cells meristem cells parenchyma cells collenchyma cells

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: The cells that are on each side of the stomatal pore and open and closeit like a mouth is called guard cells. Guard cells are found almost allover the body part of the plant. The opening and closing of the stomata acts asa mediator by changes in turgor pressure of the guard cells. Turgor pressurepushes and sometimes out of the cell wall of the plant to allow ions ofsolution to come in and out. The stomatal pore of the guard cell becomes largewhen water is present around it and it is small when water is not present.

____ is a process by which organisms with characteristics suited to the environment will survive and reproduce. a. natural selection c. evolution b. artificial selection d. organic evolution

Answers

The correct answer is (a) Natural Selection

Natural Selection is the process by which the the phenotype which best suits the environment survives and reproduce. This is because of the differences in the phenotype. The species evolve through a period of time to adapt the environment. The adaptations or the characters are inherited to the next generation over the population. Natural selection acts on the phenotype and is the main key for evolution of species.

According to evolutionary history and taxonomy, tigers resemble ____________ more closely than they resemble fish. A) hydra B) gorillas C) sea urchin D) grasshoppers

Answers

The correct answer is option B, Gorillas

Tiger resembles gorillas as these two animal species are high order vertebrates and live in the same habitat i.e on land. Most of their physical and biological features are same or their functionality concepts are same. While fish are primates of lower order and live in water , thus they posses many distinctive feature which are absent in tigers. Insects are Arthropods and are invertebrates.

Why are small populations more prone to genetic disease

Answers

Answer:

Inbreeding  and greater chance of passing deletereous mutations through generations

Explanation:

There are several reasons why small populations are more prone to genetic diseases. One of them is that in small populations there tends to be more inbreeding , that is breeding between individuals are closely related. Inbreeding increase the chances of offspring being affected by deletereus homozygous genotypes.

On the other hand, the acquisition of a deleterious mutation in a small population is more likely to be spread in that small population  than in a large population.

The small population is prone to the disease more than the large population as the former have less diversity of organism and therefore there are fewer chances of occurrence of an organism that have resistance to the disease.

Further Explanation:

Genetic drift refers to the change in the allele frequency observed in the population due to random sampling. This may occur due to a bottleneck effect or Founder’s effect.

The allele frequency remains constant if the population follows the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium.

There is more probability of occurrence of diversity in a population of large size that is the large population has an organism that has homozygous dominant allele, heterozygous allele, and homozygous recessive allele. So there is more probability that this population may have an organism having disease-resistant allele than the population of small size.
