If √5 - x = 4,then x=
i need help on here how to solve it

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: Professor Dan Healy, one of my Engineering instructors back in prehistoric times,  had a favorite way of showing us how to do this kind of problem ... I mean the kind that's incredibly easy, but your own fear gets in the way and convinces you that you can't handle it.  Here is Prof. Healy's method.

For a few moments, call the square root of 5 by the name "cow".

cow - x = 4 .    Solve this equation for 'x' :

Add 'x' to each side of the equation:  cow = 4 + x

Subtract 4 from each side:                cow - 4 = x

Now, we can put the real value back in place of 'cow' :  √5 - 4 = x

That right there is a perfect solution.  But If you absolutely need to
know the number, then grab your calculator:

√5 = 2.2361 (rounded)

x = √5 - 4 = 2.2361 - 4 = -1.7639 (rounded)

Answer 2
Answer: \sqrt5-x=4\n x=\sqrt5-4

Indra baked and frosted a rectangular cake to sell at a bake sale for the Model UN club. The cake, including frosting, was 4 inches high, 16 inches wide, and 12 inches long. She centered the cake on a circular tray. The circular tray had a radius of 10 inches. What is the area, to the nearest square inch, of the tray that is not covered by the cake?A. 100
B. 114
C. 122
D. 314
E. 192

Answers

Answer:

C. 122

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Dimension of the cake:

Length = 12 in      Width = 16 in      Height = 4 in

We have to find out the area of the tray that is not covered by the cake.

Indra centered the cake on a circular tray.

Radius of the tray = 10 in.

So area of the tray is equal to π times square of the radius.

Framing in equation form, we get;

Area of tray =\pi* r^2=3.14*{10}^2=3.14* 100=314\ in^2

Since the cake is placed in circular tray.

That means only base area of cake has covered the tray.

Base Area of cake = length* width=12* 16=192\ in^2

Area of the tray that is not covered by the cake is calculated by subtracting area of base of cake from area of circular tray.

We can frame it in equation form as;

Area of the tray that is not covered by the cake = Area of tray - Base Area of cake

Area of the tray that is not covered by the cake =314-192=122\ in^2

Hence The area of the tray that is not covered by the cake is 122 sq. in.

For an upcoming school field trip, there must be one adult supervisor for every five children.If the bus seats 40 people, how many children can go on the trip?

Answers

the answer is 30, i did 6(the number of kids and adult combined) times 6( the highest number i could get to without going over the limit 40) hope this helped

Answer: 32 Childrens maximum I think

Step-by-step explanation: I believe it is 32 because there will be 8 adults for every 32 children (ratio 1 adult:5 children) then convert the ratio to ?adult: availaible seats (40) so multiply by 8 since 5×8 equals 40 and 8×1 equals 8 but the adults have their spots too so 40-8=32

What is the solution to the linear equation? 6k+10.5=3k+12

Answers

Answer:

k=0.5

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: The linear equation 6k+10.5=3k+12.

To find: The solution of the linear equation.

Solution: The given linear equation is:

6k+10.5=3k+12

Rewriting the like terms, we get

6k-3k=12-10.5

Solving the above equation, we have

3k=1.5

k=(1.5)/(3)

k=0.5

which is the required solution to the linear equation.

the answer is k=0.5 hope it helps

C2d3 has a solubility product constant of 9.14×10−9. what is the molar solubility of c2d3?

Answers

The correct answer for the question that is being presented above is this one:

We need to express the ksp expression of C2D3
C2D3
= (2x)2(3x)3
= 108x5

Then set that equation equal to your solubility constant

9.14x10-9 = 108x5
x = 9.67x10-3

So the molar solubility is 9.67x10-3

Below is similar question:

48 out of 100 private buses usually run on time. Out of the buses that are on time, only 36 are owned by Jerry. Out of the remaining 52 buses that usually run late, only 7 are owned by Jerry. What is the probability that a bus is owned by Jerry, given that it runs on time?
 A. 0.58
B. 0.67
C. 0.75
D. 0.81

The answer is C as 36/48 = .75

Based on the number of buses owned by Jerry that usually run late, the probability that a bus owned by Jerry would run late is 13.5%.

What is the probability that Jerry's bus would run late?

This can be found as:

= Number of buses that Jerry owns which run late / Total number of buses that run late

Solving gives:

= 7 / 52

= 13.5%

To solve the inequality, we have as a first step to apply the distributive property on the left side of the inequality.

We have then:

Rewriting we have:
