With Great migration, the black political power started to influence in northern cities. This process was slow but was able to freer African Americans to speak and take their own place in the northern environment. They also gained political support by settling in large cities in states with many electoral votes. The Great Migration was a response of the labor shortage in the North caused for the immigration restrictions and the extensive use of American men in the WWI.
