You receive your first paycheck and notice that a percentage of your money has gone to taxes and your employer explains that everyone must pay taxes. Based on the lessons, what are the benefits of paying taxes and the penalties for not paying your taxes? Include the type of taxes you currently have to pay and explain why.

Answers

Answer:

  1. The whole point of taxes is to raise money to help pay for programs and services authorized by state and federal governments. Here are some examples of what your federal and state income taxes help to provide. Federal taxes help pay for: National defense – Securing America and protecting its interests overseas. If you file your taxes but don't pay them, the IRS will charge you a failure-to-pay penalty. The penalty is far less: Generally, the IRS will charge you 0.5 percent of your unpaid taxes for each month you don't pay, up to 25 percent. Interest also accrues on your unpaid taxes.

Answer:

The money you pay in taxes goes to many places. In addition to paying the salaries of government workers, your tax dollars also help to support common resources, such as police and firefighters. If you file your taxes but don't pay them, the IRS will charge you a failure-to-pay penalty.

My mom gave me a Kool Action game for my birthday on October 27, 2010, and I was SO excited. When I opened it, I could see that parts were missing, so we went back to the store and tried to return it. They said tough luck and wouldn't even talk to us. Now, I'm writing to you to try and get my money back so I can get something else for my birthday that actually works. Mom said it cost $109.99, but we spent a lot of time trying to get it returned, so I think you should send me at leat $125.00. Besides, it was for my birthday! The passage above is excerpted from the body of a letter of complaint. Which statement evaluates the effectiveness of this passage best?

->The letter is well written, using appropriate tone and specific details.
>The tone of the letter is too informal and lacks details needed for a good resolution.
>The writer should be given more money because it was a birthday gift.
>The letter is effective in its tone but lacks specific details.

Answers

That would be B, or the second choice. This letter is not only informal and lacking of tone, but there are some major errors. Capitalizing words like "SO" makes this informal. Also, they should have used quotes. There are some spelling errors, like saying "leat" instead of "least." Small details like this have the power to make or destroy a good argument. In this case, it was destroyed.

the correct answer is : The tone of the letter is too informal and lacks details needed for a good resolution.

Can anyone help me discuss two ways in which an advocacy campaign can raise awareness.

Answers

Advocacy campaigns are activities by individuals or groups which aim to influence decisions within political, economic or social systems and institutions.

One way in which an advocacy campaign can raise awareness is media advocacy. It was successfully used to fight alcohol and tobacco related health issues. By taking about the negative effects of alcohol and smoking, the media advocacy helped to raise awareness about this problem. The biggest advantage of this type of campaign is their reach:  TV, radio and the internet are widely used and their influence on people' opinion building is very high.

Another way to raise awareness through an advocacy campaign is  massadvocacy. It is any type of action taken by a large group ( a petition or demonstration). The purpose of a demonstration is to make some decision making bodies aware of an existing problem. The will to participate in such event is a sign of a raised awareness already.

The two main ways that advocacy groups go about getting their message across is to appeal directly to voters (either through advertisements, meetings, etc.) or appeal directly to politicians, through lobbying campaigns.
