I need to solve this algebra expression5-7+2x10
The answer is 18 but I don't understand why it's 18 & not 22 .
Can you explain why they subtracted instead of adding ?
Thank you

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: 5-7+2*10
5-7+20
-2+20=18
The answer is :18
Answer 2
Answer: Ok so they subtract instead of add because if you said I could have $5 to spend at the mall for an example and I took 7  I would have to pay you back. But what happens if you take 5 away from seven is you would get -2 so you would subtract that 2x10. You subtract it because it's a negative number. Does that make sense?

Which expressions are equivalent to -3-(7.5+4)

Answers

-3-(7.5+4)
PEMDAS
P for Parenthesis
E for Exponents
M/D for Multiplication/Division
A/S for Addition/Subtraction
We should first clear the ones in parenthesis: (Oder Of Operations)
= -3-(11.5)
= -3-11.5
= -14.5
Basically -3-(11.5)

solve for y in th equation
-3x+6y+5=-7
-3x+6y=-12
6y=3x-12
y=1/2x-2
Since the y-intercept of this graph is -2, we can automatically say that point (0,-2) is on the graph.
Then you can just plug the x value of each point into the equation and see if you get the right y value.
to test point (6,-3) plug in x=6 to get (6/2)-2 which equals 1.  since the y value when x=6 is 1 instead of -3, we can say that this point is not on the graph.
repeat that step for each of the given points.
when done correctly you should get that points (0,-2) and (8,2) are on the graph.

Help need to divide the fraction

Answers

Hello There!

So we divide fractions by multiplying by the reciprocal.

So let’s change 6/7 divided by 3/8 to 6/7 multiplied by 8/3.

Once we do that, we can start our multiplication.

Once we multiply, we get 48/21

We can both divide these by 3 to simplify it so once we divide we will get

16/7

This can be turned in a mix number and it would be 2 and 2/7
