Option (C ) is the right choice. Ivan IV Vasilyevich, also known as Ivan the Terrible, was a Russian tyrant who constructed the majestic St. Basil's Cathedral but is best known for his terribly cruel rule.
Russian king Ivan IV Vasilyevich, also known as Ivan the Terrible, was the first tsar of Russia and the Grand Prince of Moscow from 1533 until 1584. He was born in Kolomenskoye, on August 25, 1530.
After a protracted regency (1533–1566), he was crowned tsar in 1547 and immediately began enacting extensive reforms, including a centralized government, church councils that organized ecclesiastical matters, and the first national assembly (1549).
Ivan established an oprichnina, a region apart from the rest of the state and under his personal rule, following the defeat and alleged betrayal of numerous Russian boyars.
He retreated into his own group with a sizable bodyguard and handed control of Russia to others. He imposed a reign of terror at the same time, destroying Novgorod and killing thousands of boyars.
Hence, Option (C ) is the correct option.
