A total of $8000 is invested: part at 7% and the remainder at11%. How much is invested at each rate if the annual interest is $760?

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: 1.)      .07x + .11y = 760
2.)        x + y=8000

we can solve the second equation for either x or y

y= 8000 - x
or
x=8000 - y

plug 1 of those in to equation 1 (I'll use y=8000 -x)

.07x + .11(8000 -x) = 760

.07x + 880 - .11x = 760

-.04x +880 = 760

-.04x = -120

x=3000

So 3000 is invested in 7%
     5000 is invested in 11%

Check

(3000 x .07) + (5000 x .11) = 720

210 + 550 = 760

Success!

All of the following ordered pairs satisfy the function rule y = -2 x - 1 except _____.(-2, 3) (0, -1) (2, -5) (-1, -3)

Answers

You need to sub your X and Y values in. Take (-1,-3) for example: if you sub in these values, your equation y=-2x -1 will become (-3)=-2(-1) - 1. However, if you simplify it out, you'll realise that it doesn't make sense as you'll get -3=-1 which is clearly untrue, thus (-1,-3) is the only pair that doesn't satisfy your function.

A table is rectangular and its length is twice its width. Find the dimensions of the table if it occupies 18 ft2 of floor space.

Answers

the dimensions of the table width would be 2 feet and the length would be 4 feet.
The answer would be length is 6, and width would be 3.
How to find the answer:
First you make combinations that multiply to 18 (because area is length times width)
2 x 9
3 x 6
6 x 3
9 x 2
since the last two are basically the same as the first two, you can get rid of those.
2 x 9
3 x 6
since 3 is half of 6 (and 2 isn't half of 9),
3 x 6 is the answer.
Hope this helps.

Erica can run 1/6 of a kilometer her school is 3/4 of a kilometer away from her home at this this speed how long would it take erica to run home from school

Answers

Answer:

4 minutes 30 seconds

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Erica can run 1/6 of a kilometer in one minute.

Her school is 3/4 of a kilometer away from her home.

Question asked:

How long would it take Erica to run home from school = ?

Solution:

As here distance is  given and also speed is given, we will find time taken to run from home to school by using,

Speed=(Distance)/(Time) \n Time =(Distance)/(Speed) \n

         =(3)/(4) /(1)/(6) \n\n =(3)/(4) *(6)/(1) \n\n =(18)/(4) \n \n =(9)/(2) \n =4.5 \ minutes

Therefore, it takes 4 minutes 30 seconds Erica to run home from school.
