Let the base be "x"
According to the question,

h = x - 13

A = 24 in sq.
Now,
Area of triangle =  (1)/(2)~b~h

24= (1)/(2)(x)(x-13)

24 *2= (x)(x-13)

48=   x^(2) - 13x

0=   x^(2) - 13x -48

Factorizing the equation,  x²  - 13x  -48, we get,

0=   x^(2)+3x - 16x -48

0=   x(x+3) - 16(x+3)

0=  (x + 3)(x-16)

NOW, using zero product property, we get,

Either,
x + 3 = 0
     x = -3

Or,
x - 16 = 0
      x  = 16

Since, distance can't be negative, we have, x = 16 in.
So, the length of the base is 16 inches.

The ticket price for the ice hockey match was £14.50. The price has increased by 7%. How much is a ticket after the increase?

Answers

7%=\frac {7}{100} = 0.07
14.5 × 0.07 = 1.015
Add this number to the original:
14.5+1.015 = £15.515

There is another way, whenever they give us an increased Percentage, they provide us with a hint!
 we add that increased percent to 100
100+7=107%
107%=(107)/(100) = 1.07
14.5×1.07= £15.515, it can also be rounded to 15.52
£15.515≈£15.52

Which represents the polynomial written in standard form?

4m – 2m4 – 6m2 + 9

Answers

If you would like to write the polynomial in standard form, you can do this like this:

4m - 2m^4 - 6m^2 + 9

Writing the polynomial in standard form means that you have to write the terms by descending degree:
- 2m^4 - 6m^2 + 4m + 9

The correct result would be - 2m^4 - 6m^2 + 4m + 9.

An equation which represents the polynomial written in standard form is 2m⁴ - 6m² + 4m + 9.

What is a polynomial?

A polynomial can be defined as a mathematicalexpression which is comprises intermediates (variables), constants and exponents with different numerical value, that are typically combined by using mathematical operations such as:

  • Addition
  • Subtraction
  • Multiplication

In this scenario, the polynomial would be written in standard form by rearranging it in descending degree of exponents:

2m⁴ - 6m² + 4m + 9.

The probability for success of an event is P(A), and the probability of success of a second event is P(B). What is the probability of both events occurring, in that order?A. P(A + B)
B. P(A) • P(B)
C. P(A) + P(B)
D. P(A x B)

Answers

Answer:  The correct option is (B) P(A) • P(B).

Step-by-step explanation:  Given that the probability for success of an event is P(A) and the probability of success of a second event is P(B).

We are to find the probability of both events occurring, in that order.

We know that

if two events are independent of each other, then the probability of the intersection of the two events is given by the product of the probabilities of the events.

Here, the event that both events occur is given by (A ∩ B).

And, so the probability of both events occurring, in that order will be

P(A\cap B)=P(A).P(B).

Thus, the required probability is P(A) • P(B).

Option (B) is CORRECT.

D. P(A x B)

To work out the success of both events you have to multiply them together. I'd seriously reccomend learning this rule as it's very important later on in mathematics as it's basically the foundation of all probability statistics.
