yes I do agree. reason for this being that in the 80s, when HIV and AIDS first came out, people were dying because of it. People were extremely afraid of the disease. but in modern times, not so much since there is medicine that helps you deal and live longer if you have HIV or AIDS. so yes, modern medicine does help live a longer life. I mean, you barely see people dying from a simple cold anymore, when back, back in the day, it was a deadly thing. due to the fact that there wasn't the right medicine.

Then the family moves, and the kid has to change to a horrible new school, gets in fights with the kids at new school, etc. The kid who moved could either hate it forever, which would be boring, kill everyone in the new school, which would be unrealistic (to most people), or realize that he/she was handling the situation wrong, learn and change.
