Cells utilise oxygen for cellular respiration. Respiration is the process by which oxygen enters the body. In the absence of oxygen, the proper oxidation of glucose doesn't take place, and proper energy can't be produced.
Hence, the two important body systems are the digestive system and the respiratory system, which provide raw materials for the energy production of cells.
