Answer:

Amendments 4 - 8 all deal with the legal rights of American citizens.

Amendment 4: Protects individuals from unreasonable searches and seizures. This means that in most cases, a law enforcement agency must have a warrant on order to search an individuals property.

Amendment 5: Creates a number of rights relevant to both criminal and legal proceedings. In criminal cases, the 5th amendment guarantees the right to a grand jury, forbids "double jeopardy" and protects against self-incrimination.

Amendment 6: Guarantees the rights of criminal defendants, including the right to a public trial without unnecessary delay, the right to a lawyer, the right to know who your accusers are and the nature of the charges and evidence against you.

Amendment 7: Was part of the Bill of Rights that was added to the Constitution on Dec 15th, 1791. This Amendment protects the right to a trial by jury in civil court cases from the constitution.

Amendment 8: To the United States Constitution states: "Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted." This amendment prohibits the federal government from imposing unduly harsh penalties on criminal defendants, either as the price for obtaining pretrial release or as punishment for crime after conviction.

who do you think was most responsible for the cold war - the western democracies or the soviet union?

Answers

Answer:

The responsibility for the Cold War is a highly debated topic among historians and political analysts. However, it is generally agreed upon that both the Western democracies and the Soviet Union played a significant role in the escalation of tensions between them. Each side had its own political and ideological objectives, and their actions and reactions to each other contributed to the development of the Cold War. Some historians argue that the United States and other Western democracies were more to blame due to their aggressive containment policies and efforts to limit the spread of communism. Others argue that the Soviet Union's expansionist policies and human rights abuses were responsible for the tensions between the two superpowers. Ultimately, the origins of the Cold War were complex and multifaceted, and assigning blame to one side or the other oversimplifies a complicated historical period.

Why did the Great Compromise and the Three-Fifths Compromise involve so much debate and discussion?

Answers

There are several reasons why the Great Compromise and the Three-Fifths Compromise involved so much debate and discussion, but mainly because slavery was so contested and nobody wanted the government to have too much power.

Answer:  Because each state was looking out for its personal interests in regard to representation in Congress.

Details:

The Great Compromise and the Three-Fifths Compromise both focused on  the representation of states in Congress.   Both of these compromises were devised during the United States Constitutional Convention in 1787.

  • The Great Compromise resolved a dispute between small population states and large population states.  The large population states wanted representation in Congress to be based on a state's population size.  The smaller states feared this would lead to unchecked dominance by the big states; they wanted all states to receive the same amount of representation.  The Great Compromise created a bicameral (two-chamber) legislature.  Representation in the House of Representatives would be based on population.  In the Senate, all states would have the same amount of representation, by two Senators.
  • The Three-Fifths Compromise was a way of accounting (somewhat) for the population of slaves in states that permitted slavery.  For taxation and representation purposes, the question was whether slaves should count in the population figures.  (They were not considered voting citizens at that time.)   The Three-Fifths Compromise said that three out of every five slaves could be counted when determining a state's population size for determining how many seats that state would receive in the House of Representatives.
