Sanjay attempts a 49-yard field goal in a football game. For his attempt to be a success, the football needs to pass through the uprights and over the crossbar that is 10 feet above the ground.Sanjay kicks the ball from the ground with an initial velocity of 73 feet per second, at an angle of 34° with the horizontal.

What is true of Sanjay's attempt?

Responses

The kick is not successful. The ball is approximately 5 feet too low.

The kick is not successful. The ball is approximately 8 feet too low.

The kick is not successful. The ball is approximately 2 feet too low

The kick is good! The football clears the crossbar by approximately 5 feet.

Answer:

In the above prompt involving a trajectory calculation, the correct option is: "The kick is not successful. The ball is approximately 5 feet too low." (Option A)

What is the rationale for the above response?

x component of trajectory =   73 cos 34   f/s

   Now how long will it take to travel 49 yards (= 147 feet) ?

         147 / (73 cos 34) = 2.43 seconds

Initial y component of trajectory = 73 sin 34 f/s = 40.82 f/s

    but this velocity is acted upon by gravity

       y = y0 + vot - 1/2 a t^2

                         y0 = 0

Now we need to know the y value at 2.43 seconds to see if it will clear the uprights.

y = 40.82 (2.43)  - 1/2 (32.174)(2.43)2

= 4.2 Feet
Thus, it is correct to state that the "The kick is not successful. The ball is approximately 5 feet too low."

. Given the following diagram. (a) Name the minor arc __________ Name the major arc ___________ (b) If the minor arc is 112°, what is the measure of the rest of the circle arc length? _____________ (c) Which line is the tangent? ___________ Which line is the secant? __________ (d) If XY is 11 and UX is 9, what is the length of UV? Answers

Answer:

  • (a) minor arc: XY; major arc: XVY
  • (b) XVY = 248°
  • (c) tangent: UV; secant: UX
  • (d) UV = 6√5

Step-by-step explanation:

(a) Any pair of points on the circle that are separated by less than the diameter will define a minor arc. (The minor arc is the shortest arc of the circle between the points.) Possible minor arcs in this diagram are ...

  VX, VY, XY

The corresponding major arc is usually named by adding the name of a point between the two endpoints that is not on the minor arc. For the minor arcs above, the corresponding major arcs are ...

  VYX, VXY, XVY

Given that part (b) tells us the minor arc of interest is 112°, we assume that arc is the one subtended by the chord: XY.

Then, per the discussion above, the corresponding major arc is XVY.

___

(b) The sum of major and minor arcs is the whole circle, 360°. So, the measure of the major arc is ...

  360° -112° = 248°

___

(c) A tangent line intersects a circle at exactly one point. It is perpendicular to a radius to that point of intersection. The tangent line in this diagram is UV.

A secant intersects a circle in two places. The portion of the secant between the points of intersection is called a chord. The secant line UX contains the chord XY.

___

(d) A rule of secants (and chords) is that the product of distances from where the secants (or chords) meet to the two intersection points with the circle is the same. For a tangent line, effectively, the two points of intersection are at the same distance. This means ...

  UV·UV = UX·UY

  UV² = 9·(9+11) = 180

  UV = √180 = √(6²·5)

  UV = 6√5 ≈ 13.42

_____

The attached figure is drawn to scale with arc XY being 112°.

Answer:

(a) minor arc: arc VX

    major arc: arc VYX

(b) 248 degrees

(c) Tangent: UV

    Secant: UY

Step-by-step explanation:

(b) 360 - 112 = 248

(c) UV crosses on the circumference of the circle at exactly one point

    UY crosses through the circle at exactly two points

Please only answer if you actually know how to). Some methods for graphing equations work well with certain equations and some don't. Help Asap). Knowing which method to select based on the given equation is a valuable skill. You have learned three methods to graph equations. These methods are: • y = mx+ b, • find intercepts, • use a t-chart. A) Using the following 3 equations, answer the questions: 11x + y =4, x+y = -2, x - 2y = 18. 1) How can you determine which equations can be graphed more easily using x - and y -intercepts, rewriting in slope-intercept form, or using a table of values? 2) Which method works best for you personally? When does it not work as well?

Answer:

please dont blame me if i get this wrong this is what i put.

Step-by-step explanation:

Using the following 3 equations, answer the questions:

11x + y =4, x+y = -2, x - 2y = 18

How can you determine which equations can be graphed more easily using x- and y-intercepts, rewriting in slope-intercept form, or using a table of values?

you can determin which is eiser to graph by wether or not they have numbers infront of the x and y intercepts.  i find it mutch eiser if they allready have the numbers there. its also eiser to graph 11x + y =4 and x - 2y =18 on a slope intercept rather than table of values because you allready can find the points for those two eiser than the last one which would be used on the table of values.  for the problem x+y=-2 you would use x and y intercepts. for 11x+y=4, rewriting in slope form is the corect method to use. and finaly use the table of values method for x-2y=18.

Which method works best for you personally? When does it not work as well?

the one that i find works best for me personally is probably gonna be the slope intercept method as apposed to many other methods. it doesnt work all the time because nothing can but normaly when i have a problem with this method i can just go to the table of values method and get the answer. (sorry if this is wrong this is what im putting for my answer. dont copy and paste this though if u do desiede to use it, read it and turn it into your own words so its not obvious you found the answer on the internet. and tbh i didnt read the lesson i just am ok at comming up with answers useing the question and getting away with it. )
