How do you use numerical expressions to solve real-world problems?

Answers

Answer 1
Answer:

Answer:

We know that numerical expressions are the expressions that contains numbers and operations namely addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Now, numbers are required in our life to make it easier.

For e.g. If we need to find the number of candies which are to be distributed among the class of 50 students, where each student get 2 candies each.

We do not start counting the numbers but instead use numerical expressions as,

Number of students in the class = 50

Number of candies each student gets = 2

Total number of candies required = 50 × 2 =100.

So, we see that in place of using the time consuming method of counting, we used numerical expressions which saved the time and was easy to apply.

In this way, there are numerous real-life situations which are easily solved with the help of numerical expressions such as when we need to find how much discount is applied to a product, to find the area of a rectangular park, to find the amount of ingredients required to bake a cake and many more.

Answer 2
Answer:

The numerical expression is very helpful to solve the real world problem as they can be written in mathematical way and solved by algebraic operations.

What is numerical expression?

Number expression are the expression, which are used to represent the statement of general problem in the mathematical form. By this mathematical form the problem can be solved and real solution is find out.

The numerical expression are used to represent the general problem in the mathematical way to solve them.

The numerical expression find the value of unknown objects.

Steps to write down the simple numericalexpression-

  • Identify all the factors of the expression..
  • Find the expression which gives same results.
  • Equate the similar expressions.

For example let a problem in which there is total Andrew has 10 toys. He gives 2 to his brother, 3 to his friend and got 5 toys form his mother.

To find how many toys Andrew remains, we can write this problem in the numerical expression as,

10-2-3+5=8-3+5\n10-2-3+5=5+5\n10-2-3+5=10\n

Thus, the Andrew has 10 toys left.

Hence, the numerical expression is very helpful to solve the real world problem as they can be written in mathematical way and solved by algebraic operations.

Answer:

25x^2 + 40x + 16

Step-by-step explanation:

(5x + 4)^2

= (5x + 4)*(5x + 4)

= 25x^2 + 20x + 20x + 16

= 25x^2 + 40x + 16

Given the function g(x) = 8x − 2, compare and contrast g(−2) and g(4). Choose the statement that is true concerning these two values. A) The value of g(−2) is larger than the value of g(4).
B) The value of g(−2) is the same as the value of g(4).
C) The value of g(−2) is smaller than the value of g(4).
D) The values of g(−2) and g(4) cannot be compared.

Answers

g(-2) = 8(-2) -2 = -16 - 2 = -18
g(4) = 8*(4) - 2 =  32 - 2 = 30
as you can see 30 is greater than -18 so the answer is C
