Mesopotamia was in turmoil due to the harsh climate and the fact that the Tigris and Euphrates rivers flooded irregularly creating a rather considerate threat to their environment.  Egypt, on the other hand, was centered on the dependable Nile, which provided a rich and fertile soil with plenty of agricultural wealth and travel for trade.  In regards to the political structure, Mesopotamia had no unification of government; however, Egypt attempted to unify with two different states the Upper and Lower sections allowing significance in the longevity of this civilization to ensure the free flow of traffic on the Nile.
