Zeki's course at a trade school cost $1,500. The school gave him a loan for the full amount at an interest rate of 23%. The school expects a payment of $123.00 every month for 15 months. How much interest will Zeki have paid when the loan balance is $0?

Answers

Typically, interest is charged by month and since this problem doesn't say anything about compound interest, we'll treat it as simple. We can just simply multiply 1500 and 0.23 to get the total amount of interest. The total amount of interest is 345. Assuming that the $123 to be paid monthly doesn't include the interest yet, Zeki has to pay 345 in total. At the end of the 15 months, he would have paid 345.

Answer:

At the end he would have paid 345

I never learned to do operations with absolute values, so I don't have
the standard tools to use.  The only thing I have to work with when I run
into one of these is my brain.  So there are probably better ways to do it,
but here's how I would approach this one:

The fraction itself is either positive or negative.  Either way, its absolute
value is less than 4.

If the fraction is positive, then you can just throw away the absolute-value
bars, and work it like a normal inequality ... multiply each side by (x-3), then
work it down so there's nothing but 'x' on the left side, etc.

If the fraction is negative AND its absolute value is less than 4, then the
fraction itself is greater than -4 .  Throw away the absolute-value bars,
change the inequality to say that, and then work it like a normal inequality.

Do BOTH of these, and you'll come out with two inequalities for 'x' ... it's
more than something AND less than something else.  Put these together
into one inequality, and you have the whole range for what 'x' can be.

Sounds complicated.  One of these days, I should learn the right way
to do these.

(x+2)/(x-3) \ \textgreater \ 4         or        (x+2)/(x-3) \ \textless \ -4

x+2 \ \textgreater \ 4(x-3)

x+2 \ \textgreater \ 4x-12

x+14 \ \textgreater \ 4x

14 \ \textgreater \ 3x

4 (2)/(3) \ \textgreater \ x  <-answer

(x+2)/(x-3)\ \textless \ - 4

x+2\ \textless \ - 4(x-3)

x+2\ \textless \ - 4x+12

Dominic and Stacy each have a stamp collection. Dominic has six fewer stamps than three times the number of stamps Stacy has. Dominic and Stacy decide to give all of their stamps to their younger sister, Mary. If Stacy had s stamps, which expression represents the number of stamps that Mary received?(3s - 18)(3s - 6)

2s - 18

4s - 6

4s - 18

Answers

The number of stamps that Mary received are 4s-6

What is linear equation ?

"A linear equation is an equation in which the highest power of the variable is always 1. It is also known as a one-degree equation. The standard form of a linear equation in one variable is of the form Ax + B = 0. Here, x is a variable, A is a coefficient and B is constant. The standard form of a linear equation in two variables is of the form Ax + By = C"

Given,

Stacy has s stamps.

Then, from the question it is clear that Dominic has 3s-6 stamps

So, the number of stamps that Mary received will be 3s-6 +s = 4s-6

Hence, option C is the correct option.

I'm pretty sure it's the first option.

Since Stacy has 3 times more stamps than Dominic does, you write 3s - 6
If you multiply 6 x 3 you get 18, giving you 3s - 18
