Answer 2
Answer:

The climate and environment shape settlement patterns by determining where essential resources like water are available and where conditions are suitable for habitation and economic activity.

How does it impact settlement patterns?

The climate and environment in the Middle East and North Africa significantly influence settlement patterns. The region's arid and semi-arid climate, characterized by limited rainfall, has led to the concentration of settlements near water sources, such as rivers and oases. These areas offer access to essential water for agriculture and daily life.

In contrast, the vast desert expanses, like the Sahara, restrict settlement due to their extreme dryness and harsh conditions. Settlements tend to cluster along the Mediterranean coast or in elevated regions where the climate is more moderate, allowing for agriculture and comfortable living conditions.

Additionally, the presence of oil and naturalresources in certain areas has attracted population centers, influencing economic opportunities and urban development patterns.

In summary, the climate and environment shape settlement patterns by determining where essential resources like water are available and where conditions are suitable for habitation and economic activity.
