What universal themes does homer explore in the odyssey? choose two events from either part one or part two, and esplain how homer conveys a theme, or central message in each.?

Answers

An important theme that The Odyssey expresses is that of the importance of home and family. It is clear to the reader that Odysseus's deepest wish is to go back home to Ithaca. There are many examples of this, but two appear in the second part of the book. First, we see how Odysseus continues to be in love with Penelope and wants to remain with her, even after decades of not seeing each other and after having met Calypso, Circe and Nausicaa. The second example is the value that Odysseus places on the fact that he is able to reunite with his father Laertes and his son Telemachus, which shows the importance of legacy and stability.

Final answer:

In The Odyssey, Homer explores the universal themes of cunning and perseverance through two events. Odysseus disguising himself as a beggar conveys the theme of cunning, while his perseverance in overcoming challenges shows the theme of perseverance.

Explanation:

The Odyssey by Homer explores several universal themes, including the power of cunning and intelligence as well as the importance of perseverance and self-discovery. One event from Part One that conveys the theme of cunning is when Odysseus disguises himself as a beggar to infiltrate his own home and reveal the suitors' intentions. This event highlights the theme of cunning as Odysseus strategically plans his actions to outsmart his enemies. Another event from Part Two that conveys the theme of perseverance is when Odysseus endures several challenges, such as the encounter with the Cyclops and the temptations of the Sirens. Despite these obstacles, Odysseus remains focused on returning home to his family.

unhappiness. Logical decisions were made in the past, decisions that involved giving up some good things in order to be rid of the terrible things. In this perfect world, twelve-year-old children are given their life assignments at the Ceremony of Twelve. Jonas is shocked, and confused, when he is chosen to be the new Receiver of Memories, a mysterious position of honor held by only one person at a time.
He is trained by the previous Receiver, now called the Giver. The training consists of transferring to him memories of a past. These include horrbile realities such as war, hunger, and disease. However, they also include life's wonderments, such as color, weather, and strong emotions. Gradually Jonas comes to understand, and resent, the choices that had to be made to create this world, and the terrible secrets behind its perfection.

Classroom Uses and Comments: Class room discussions can focus on moral dilemas, the need for a greater good, isolation (Jonas), and symbolism used throughout the book.

Characters: Jonas, the Giver, Jonas' family, the 'society'

Censorship: Euthenasia (both young and old)

Selection Criteria: I. Author Lois Lowry

Reflection: I loved this book. I thought it was clever, yet simple and flowed easily. It reminded me of another more recent series - The City of Ember. Both books looked at a perfect world, and what it costs us for perfection. So often, in our current world, people strive for perfection ... the perfect relationship, the perfect kids, the perfect home, the perfect carreer. This story helps us reflect on what we give up to achieve this perfection.

What might a strict person do

Answers

A strict person can do A LOT of stuff, especially if they are your parents. Strict parents will not let you:

NO using the internet without their high security supervision, no friend parties, no music, no bf or gf, no inviting friend to your house, no staying up late, STUDY ALL DAY, MUST have PERFECT grades, etc.

These are just a few things strict parents do

A strict person can do many things. Some stuff, for instance is that if your a parent, mom, you can force your kids into doing a lot of stuff. A way to do this is to yell at them, get mad. If you have strict parents then you can NEVER EVER do A LOT of stuff. Like you are NOT allowed to use the internet late at night. You NEVER will get a phone till you become indpenedt. you can't have gf or bf. You can't call your friends to your house. You will be accepted to study ALL day long. You can't listen to music. And you will be expected to get straight A's. These are just SOME stuff. there are way way more stuff.
