Describe the lives of working people during the Industrial Revolution. Who were the workers? What kinds of work did they do? Where did they live and work? What were their living and working conditions? Why did they accept these jobs? Why didn’t factory owners treat their workers well?

Answers

During the Industrial Revolution the workers were mainly European immigrants. They did hard labor in factories and sweat shops under awful conditions making items such as shirtwaists, hats, etc. They lived in cramped tenements and sometimes went to work in them. New immigrants accepted these jobs because they needed to earn a living somehow. The factory owners didn't treat their workers well because they were greedy. They cared more about making a profit rather than the well-being of their workers.

Which best describes one unexpected and harmful result of Prohibition? A. It resulted in widespread unemployment.

B. It led to organized crime and violence.

C. It led to increased smoking among young men and women.

D. It increased drinking in America.

Answers

It led to organized crime and violence is best describes one unexpected and harmful result of Prohibition. Hence, option B is correct.

What is the harmful result of Prohibition?

To protect people and families from the "scourge of intoxication," Prohibition was put into place. But it also had unforeseen effects, such as an increase in organized crime linked to the illicit manufacturing and sale of alcohol, a rise in smuggling, and a decrease in tax revenue.

The Prohibition Amendment had significant effects, including the outlawing of brewing and distilling, the growth of state and federal government, the emergence of new forms of male and female social interaction, and the suppression of aspects of working-class and immigrant culture.

Consuming alcohol became riskier, crime proliferated and became "organized," the judicial and prison systems were overburdened, and public officials were frequently corrupted. There were no discernible improvements in either absenteeism or productivity.

Thus, option B is correct.

How did the United States economy in the North differ from the economy in the South? Support youranswer with two examples of each type of economy.

Answers

The North's economy was based off of industrialism and the South's economy was almost entirely comprised of agriculture and trade of goods. The examples are industrialism for the North and comprised for the South.
I hope this helps. :-)
The Southern economy was very dependent on slaves. Slaves did work for free, which ended up giving the Southerners a lot of money. The North didn't have the need for slaves as they didn't have as many plantations or land good for agriculture. Instead Northerners had industries that grew quicker than the South's crops. The South was forced to buy their manufactured good from the North and sell their crops to the North for low prices. Many Southerners despised the uneven difference of the economies, which only helped increase tensions when the Civil War started up.
