Passage (CAG_ELA 9_Ronald Reagan's Inaugural Address) Read Ronald Reagan's Inaugural Address below and answer the following questions analyzing this piece of informational text. Ronald Reagan: First Inaugural Address By: Ronald Reagan Tuesday, January 20, 1981 1To a few of us here today, this is a solemn and most momentous occasion; and yet, in the history of our Nation, it is a commonplace occurrence. The orderly transfer of authority as called for in the Constitution routinely takes place as it has for almost two centuries and few of us stop to think how unique we really are. In the eyes of many in the world, this every-4-year ceremony we accept as normal is nothing less than a miracle. 2 Mr. President, I want our fellow citizens to know how much you did to carry on this tradition. By your gracious cooperation in the transition process, you have shown a watching world that we are a united people pledged to maintaining a political system which guarantees individual liberty to a greater degree than any other, and I thank you and your people for all your help in maintaining the continuity which is the bulwark of our Republic. 3 The business of our nation goes forward. These United States are confronted with an economic affliction of great proportions. We suffer from the longest and one of the worst sustained inflations in our national history. It distorts our economic decisions, penalizes thrift, and crushes the struggling young and the fixed-income elderly alike. It threatens to shatter the lives of millions of our people. 4 Idle industries have cast workers into unemployment, causing human misery and personal indignity. Those who do work are denied a fair return for their labor by a tax system which penalizes successful achievement and keeps us from maintaining full productivity. 5 But great as our tax burden is, it has not kept pace with public spending. For decades, we have piled deficit upon deficit, mortgaging our future and our children's future for the temporary convenience of the present. To continue this long trend is to guarantee tremendous social, cultural, political, and economic upheavals. 6 You and I, as individuals, can, by borrowing, live beyond our means, but for only a limited period of time. Why, then, should we think that collectively, as a nation, we are not bound by that same limitation? 7 We must act today in order to preserve tomorrow. And let there be no misunderstanding - we are going to begin to act, beginning today. Reagan's praise for the outgoing president in paragraph 2 establishes what attitude in the reader's mind? it is d bicycle that is your answer

I am doing a test with this question also and if i am not mistaken, the answer is bicycle. I think this because word broken is a particible, and when a word is modified, it is modifiying the specified word. So in the sentence, the participle is broken, and they word broken is speaking of the bicycle. So broken modifies the word bicylce. Answer: D bicycle.

Which quotation supports the theme “Having a mixed cultural heritage can lead to mixed feelings”?A. where the two Slovak children / who became my grandparents
B. I too come to this island, / nine decades the answerer / of dreams.
C. Yet only one part of my blood loves that memory. / Another voice speaks
D. knowledge of the seasons / in their veins.

Answers

Answer and explanation:

Letter C is indeed the one that supports the theme "Having a mixed heritage can lead to mixed feelings". When discussing heritage, it is very common to use the word "blood" to refer to one's ancestry. We often hear people say they have Italian blood, for instance, and use that expression to justify a behavior, a personality trait, or an eating habit. When the speaker says, "only one part of my blood loves that memory", we can assume that having a mixed cultural heritage causes him/her to struggle. Maybe that memory refers to something that is acceptable in one culture but not in the other. Maybe the speaker has learned a new way to see things and this perspective goes against inherited customs.

The following is a student draft. It may contain errors. The issue of what role parents should play as their children become more engaged with social media is an important one. While children—especially us teenagers!—believe our social media posts should remain private, our parents tend to disagree.Parents oftentimes argue that they need access to their children's social media accounts so they can remove content they feel should be kept private. However, there is no research to support the idea that teens share too much personal information online. The real issue is that teens and parents view privacy differently. When teenagers seek privacy, it is generally because they want to be able to exercise control over who sees the content they post. When parents insist on monitoring their children's social media accounts, teens lose that sense of control, which can lead to a feeling of mistrust between parents and their children.Another argument, which is one often cited by parents, is the concern that children spend too much time on social media, talking long into the night with friends and losing sleep. While this may be true, it is important to note that the issue of how much time teens spend on social media offers an opportunity to build trust and set reasonable boundaries with their children. Parents can start by talking with their children and asking questions such as: How much time do you think is reasonable to spend on social media each day? What time should social media access end each day? And so forth. Through conversations like these parents and children can begin to find some middle ground. Once parents and children have worked together to establish rules that everyone can live with, trust between them can be established—if children adhere to the rules, they can likely be trusted to monitor own social media; if not, then work together to establish new guidelines that will work for everyone. No one wants to feel like they are being monitored all the time, especially teens. So, it is important that adults understand and work with their children to find common ground on the issue of social media.3Select the correct answer.Read the sentence from the draft.Through conversations like these parents and children can begin to find some middle ground. What is the correct way to edit this sentence?A.
