Why were roads significant to the roman republic and ancient cultures and religions of the same time period

Answers

The Roman Empire was immense by anyone's standards in the height of its glory. In order to keep control of this vast empire, the Romans realized very soon that they would need good roads to send out armies, send notes, receive goods from other lands and traveling people on the way to Rome needed an easy way to travel. Other ancient cultures also used roads to travel to and from far away destinations. Before there were known waterways around the ancient world to move people and goods, the best way was by camels, foot and wagons. Examples of these would be the Silk Road from China to Europe and the Theban Desert Road from Egypt. All of these places needed to move their wares. In Egypt, the roads were also important to building the Pyramids and other great structures. The chariots used by Pharaoh needed smooth roads to travel by.  Along these same roads and well-worn paths, religious leaders would also walk to spread their religion. Most people traveled by foot to get from place to place.

The United States became involved in the Korean conflict because Syngman Rhee pleaded for help. True False

Answers

NO, False! This war was started because of the worry and fear over the spread of communism! It was the end of WW2 and Communism in Europe was a real threat, the U.S. fearing the Soviet Union had every intention on spreading communism. U.S. strategy was containment at home and abroad. The Korean Peninsula was divided the south backed by the U.S and the north by the Soviets. Soviets invaded north Korea which was under Japanese rule. The Japanese didn't want to loose their territory so they surrendered to both invaders. The U.S. and the Soviets decided to split the country along the 38th parallel. War at the line broke out and Truman (U.S. President at the time) was very worried about Communist China and the Soviets stepping in to defend northern Korea! Truman went to the United Nations and they adopted a resolution (without Soviet Russia who had declined a seat with the United Nations Security Council because the delegates had refused to add communist china to the UN. Yes, America backed Syngman Rhee, but this war was fought with the Americans and Allies deciding Communism wasn't going to be ours or most of the worlds fate!

Answer:

Three events that I would add are Boston Tea Party, the battle of Saratoga and Treaty of Paris.

Explanation:

Boston Tea Party should be add because it is one of the ways how colonists expressed their dissatisfaction with the current situation and that at the end led to the war.

The battle of Saratoga is important because after Revolutionary Army won that battle, France decided to enter the war.

Treaty of Paris is important because the war ended with it, and new States were officially proclaimed independent.

Final answer:

I would add the Proclamation Line of 1763, the Boston Tea Party, and the Second Continental Congress to the timeline.

Explanation:

If I could add three more events to this timeline, I would include the following:

  1. The Proclamation Line of 1763: This event is important because it marked a significant change in British policy towards the American colonies. The Proclamation Line prohibited colonists from settling west of the Appalachian Mountains, which angered many colonists who saw it as a violation of their rights.
  2. The Boston Tea Party: This event is important because it was a direct act of resistance against British taxation. Colonists, disguised as Native Americans, dumped tea into the Boston Harbor to protest the Tea Act of 1773. The Boston Tea Party further escalated tensions between the colonists and the British government.
  3. The Second Continental Congress: This event is important because it marked the formal establishment of a central government for the colonies and the beginning of the American Revolution. The Second Continental Congress took place in May 1775 and led to the drafting of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
