Read the excerpt from Enrique's Journey.During his first attempts north, a chance meeting saved Enrique from the worst of the gangs. As he set out on his trip, he noticed another teenager, a gangster named El Brujo, at the bus station in Honduras waiting to go to the Mexican border. Enrique doesn't like gangs. But as the two spent hours traveling through Honduras and Guatemala together, they became friends. On their first train ride through Chiapas, El Brujo introduced Enrique to a dozen other MS members, among them Big Daddy, who is skinny and short; El Chino (the Chinaman), who has slanted eyes; and El Payaso (the Clown), who has a big mouth and eyes. On subsequent trips, when he was deported, he always stuck with one of these gang members to protect himself from any attacks. The author uses the narrative technique of characterization in this excerpt. The main struggle in a story occurs internally or externally

Answers

It depends on the book, it could be either.
It can be either. That is because some characters struggle through internal conflict. Internal conflict is conflict with the characters self/in his own mind. Making a hard decision may be an internal conflict.
Another conflict can be external conflict. That is also hard because many characters cannot control something else. External conflict is conflict that is around a character. Something other than the character. An example is a conflict with the weather, (hurricanes, tornado's).

In my opinion, I think external conflict is a main struggle because that character cannot stop that thing easily. In an internal conflict, many control their thoughts/feelings.

Fact and Opinion Direction: Read each statement and then circle whether it is a fact or opinion.Explain your answer.
1-The fastest land dwelling creature is the Cheetah.
Fact or Opinion Explain:
2-the ugliest sea creature is the manatee.
Fact or Opinion Explain:
3-prison is one of the worst places on the planet.
4-Oranges contain both calcium and vitamin C.

Answers

1. Fact, scientific experimentation has proven that the cheetah is the fastest land dwelling creature.
2. Opinion, because the manatee is not proven to the ugliest sea creature and some people may like them.
3. Opinion, because not all people hate prison it may be bad but not to all people.
4. Fact, scientific experimentation has proven that oranges contain both calcium and vitamin c.

1-The fastest land dwellingcreature is the Cheetah.

Fact.  This is fact because it can be verified.

2-the ugliest sea creature isthe manatee.

Opinion.  Because opinions vary and beauty (orugliness) is relative, perspectives on what is considered “ugly” will vary.

3-prison is one of the worstplaces on the planet.

Opinion.  This is a relative thought.  To some, prison might be considered a goodplace.  In fact, there are instanceswhere convicts cannot function in society after a long prison term and commitcrimes to be returned to prison because society has become a bad place—a placewhere hardships outweigh those they faced in prison.

4-Oranges contain both calciumand vitamin C.

Fact.  This is something that can be tested andverified as true.

NOTE:  When trying to determine whether something isa fact or an opinion, just be sure to keep in mind that if the statement can beproven, it is fact; if the statement cannot be proven, it must be an opinion.

d. Grete claiming that Gregor isn't her brother

The Metamorphosis is a short story written by Franz Kafka. Surrealism is a movement that began in the 1920s. Artists created strange creatures from everyday objects. Surrealism's aim was to allow the unconscious to express itself. The incident inThe Metamorphosis that shows surrealism is Mr. Samsa fatally wounding Gregor with apples (a). Gregor is transformed into an insect right at the beginning of the story. The rest of the story deals with the ways Gregor and his family battle to adjust to his transformation.

I believe the answer is: A.Mr. Samsa fatally wounding Gregor with apples

Surrealism refers to the artistic expression that explore the world of unconscious behavior that might lead to the showing of love or violence.

This expression often used to challenge the lines between good and bad by making the readers ask themselves whether a bad intention could be considered as bad if it's not followed by action.
