When providing a rebuttal in an argument that challenges a writer’s evidence, one thing you could do is present more recent evidence. Because things change all of the time, it is completely possible that a writer is basing his or her arguments on antiquated information. Thus, by presenting research that is more current, you will discredit the validity of an argument which is based upon earlier info. For instance, if a writer presents a claim that 3G phone service is the fastest out there and supports that claim with evidence from 10 years ago, by providing evidence that is current with a counterclaim, you would not only challenge his claim, but disprove it. As such, presenting the most recent evidence is always best.
