Answers

Answer 1
Answer: The correct answer is that - murder causes an all-encompassing guilt. The theme of the whole story is how a human being cannot possibly bear to hide such a terrible secret and live with so much guilt. The narrator of the story killed a man and buried him under the floor, but he constantly kept hearing the dead man's heartbeats, which is, of course, impossible, but as he was feeling so guilty for having murdered a person, his mind led him to insanity.

Which sentence in this paragraph states the reason for the growing popularity of feudalism in medieval society?Feudalism worked well in Britain and France for several centuries. The Church and religious leaders had a lot of power and influence with the ruling class. When the feudal system succeeded on the local level, kings and emperors used the system on a much larger scale to strengthen their monarchies. Under the feudal system, the king divided up his land among his most important lords. In return, the king required services such as political support, tax payments, and military force. The feudal lords then divided their shares of land among their best knights. Though the quality of life had improved for most people since the Anglo-Saxon period, society remained unequal.

In The Farewell Speech, Queen Elizabeth’s use of first-person point of view

Answers

Hi!

In the Farewell speech, Queen Elizabeth uses the first person point of view in order to allow her to share her personal thoughts and ideas.

She doesn't use her point of view to appear appear to be impartial or objective, as a first person point of view is known for being subjective. She doesn't use itto seem as though she’s observing from the outside because this is a characteristic of someone writing in third person as opposed to in first person. And finally, she doesnt say it to prevent her from addressing the audience directly because this is typical of a speech written in first person.

"In a republican nation, whose citizens are to be led by reason and persuasion and not by force, the art of reasoning becomes of first importance.."meaning???

Answers

If you want to lead a a republic government by opinions you must compromise with everyone and not by forced laws. If it helps understanding a republic government is a government led by people that is not biased.
In a democratic nation, the people are used to being led by reasonable people who have the gift of persuasion to their side of an argument if they have enough evidence to support it. We are not a people who want to be told what to do, when to do it and how to do it. We believe our minds are worth using and to that end, we have the right to research a problem or issue with all the resources available and come to a conclusion. Reasoning is part of coming to that conclusion about the government and the people in office. We have to discuss the issues and decide who is doing the best job of representing us. If we no longer use our reasoning power as citizens we have given in and become nothing more than a society of people with no rights.  (I think it means something like this.)
