How did the Crusades help one class of people to become wealthy?
Answers
Answer 1
Answer:
The Crusades helped people who went to the Holy lands and fought for their God in the sense that they were able to gather different riches in these lands. Those who survived were able to go back and sell these riches and this essentially made them wealthier.
The farms were small, only four or five acres of land. They often grew barley, grapes, and olives. Grapes were primarily used for wine. They mixed wine with water, it was considered bad to drink it plain. There were some large farms owned by city people. The farmers sold their products at the local market. One record shows a farmer making 30,000 drachmas a year off of a farm. Hope this helps.
