Answer 1
Answer: A canal would have helped US ships get to the war more quickly.

The Spanish-American War proved the US struggled to get ships to the Pacific quickly without having a direct route from the East coast where many ships were built and to the islands of the Pacific such as the Philippines where fighting was occurring.

Following the Spanish-American War, the US worked to gain a canal to move ships, equipment, and soldiers to the Pacific more quickly. The US gained the Philippines and Guam from the Spanish-American War as well as Hawaii in the same year. These islands would all serve as naval bases and would need to be equipped quickly especially if war were to break out. Creating the Panama Canal would cut travel time in half and would be more safe than going around the tip of South America. Through the efforts of Theodore Roosevelt the US was able to gain access to the land needed to create the canal.

What is Economic Boom?

A period of rapid real GDP growth that results in declining unemployment, accelerating inflation, and rising asset prices is known as an economic boom. A boom is when real GDP growth exceeds the projected trend rate of increase by a significant amount, which can cause macroeconomic overheating.

There was a brief recession following the war, but the United States experienced an unprecedented economic boom beginning in 1922. Electricity developed slowly prior to the war, but the electricity industry experienced a massive boom during the 1920s. By 1929, the majority of American homes had electricity, and 70% of them used it for lighting. The development of factories to produce consumer goods for the American people doubled the demand for electricity. Electricity was brought to factories to power machinery, making it feasible to manufacture items like refrigerators, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, and radios in large quantities.

So, the right option is C.
