Animals are completely dependent upon plants for food. Even the animals that eat other animals are dependent on plants. Explain.

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: When the first consumer (herbivore) eats a producer (plant), the second consumer will have to eat the first consumer for food. So in order for the second consumer to live, the first consumer must live as well by eating plants. That is why the second consumer also need plants to survive. E.g. Plant is eaten by a rabbit and the rabbit eaten by a fox

How dose natural selection produce adaptations in a species?

Answers

For natural selection to occur, several premises must be satisfied. Firstly, there must be variation in a population. If all individuals are the same, there is no variation on which selection can occur. Secondly, these traits must be heritable, meaning they are passed from parent to offspring. Natural selection cannot operate on traits that have no genetic basis. There must also be differential reproduction, which means that some individuals must reproduce more than others. When all of these factors occur, natural selection results in evolution as advantageous traits propagate throughout the population.

Natural selection is quite variable, as changes in the environment impact what traits are advantageous in a particular time and place. A good of example of this comes from Galapagos finches. These birds have varying beak sizes. Wide beaks are best for eating hard seeds, while long narrow beaks are more adept at exploiting the fleshy fruit from trees. Typically narrow beaks are more prevalent, but during drought conditions when trees cannot produce fruit, seeds become a more abundant food item. This results in those finches with wide beaks having more food available and reproducing more than those with narrow beaks. When droughts persist over many years, wide beaks replace narrow beaks as the most common, but this trend reverses when droughts end and fruits once again become available.

When there is a natural selection upon any species this means that that specific species has an adaptation / a increase in survival skills .

There a Giraffes for EXAMPLE : one group of giraffes have medium length necks and the 2nd group has longer necks , so they can reach the 85 foot tall trees.

That was an example of natural selection , i hoped that my answer helped yo out a lot , have a nice day.

Write an argumentative paragraph explaining the consequences of artificial selection. This paragraph needs to include facts and you need to cite your resources. This must be a minimum of 8 sentences long.

Answers

Answer:

Artificial selection can be described as the method by which organisms with the desired characteristics are crossed so that offsprings with better qualities can be produced.

Although artificial selection is an effective way to produce organisms with better traits, yet this technique has some consequences of its own. Growing plants and animals through this method will lead to lesser genetic variety. In the future id any disaster such as a disease infects the organisms then the entire population will be eradicated as there will be little or no genetic diversity at all.

While surveying his apple trees, a farmer discovers a particular tree that produces apples with perfect size, color, and flavor. To reproduce this plant, he removes a twig from the s tree and attaches it to the stem and root system of a growing apple tree in a process called grafting. The tree will continue to grow and will later produce apples. Why does he use this method instead of planting an apple seed from the tree with ideal apples?

It is because he knew, that was a good breed of plant (High variety)....so he did not want to waste that gene's capacity by hybridization with some other factors....

What process signals the end of one cycle and the beginning of another in the menstrual cycle

Answers

The menstrual cycle is the set of physiological phenomena, occurring most often periodically (approximately one month), which prepare the body of the woman for a possible fertilization.
The process signal of the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new one is menstruation which is explained by the release of the unfertilized ovule with the placenta precursor (which is a blood).
In the case of fertilization, the menstrual cycles are "paused", and "resumed" after the childbirth.

why does the plasma cell have a well developed endoplasmic reticulum with lots of ribosomes

Answers

Since plasma cells make your antibodies, they need to produce a lot of protein. Also because the nucleus makes a lot of products to make proteins you need a large Golgi Body. How ER's relate to this: to do protein synthesis you need ribosomes and to have ribosomes you need the rough ER!

Answer:Within the cell, the endoplasmic reticulum synthesizes lipids and proteins. ... Proteins that are made in the cell for use by the cell-for instance, as channels in the plasma membrane-are made by the free ribosomes that dot the cytoplasm. Two types of endoplasmic reticulum are found in the eukaryotic cell.
