For triangle TRI the following facts are given:Segment AN is perpendicular to segment RI
AN = 6 cm
RI = 8 cm
TA = 3.3 cm
NI = 1.6 cm

In two column format prove that triangle TAN is congruent to triangle TRI
For triangle TRI the following facts are given: Segment AN - 1

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: we can see that the two triangles share an angle and all their sides are parallel, thus by Tales theorem, they are in Tales position, which proves that they are congruent.

we can see from figure that:
call x and y the unknown segments TA and TN, then we have:

3.3/(3.3 + x) = 6/8

8*3.3 = 6(3.3 + x)
x = 1.1

and then the proportion still holds for those sides as well as AN and RI

we also have:
y/(y + 1.6) = 6/8
8y = 6y + 9.6

y = 4.8

and then the proportion still holds for those sides as well as AN and RI

-5v-6=3v+10 i really hate math but i need help

Answers

OK.  We could have gotten along nicely without the comment.

-5v - 6 = 3v + 10

I think what you're trying to find is the number that ' v ' must be
in order to make the equation a true statement.  That number
is called the 'solution' of the equation.

To find it, you have to massage and manipulate the equation around
until you have ' v ' and nothing else on one side.  You can do anything
you want to a whole side of the equation, but whatever you do to one
side, you must immediately do to the other side.  Here's one way you
could go about it:

                                            -5v - 6 = 3v + 10

Add  5v  to each side:                 -6 = 8v + 10

Subtract  10  from each side:    -16 = 8v

Divide each side by  8 :             -2  =  v

James started tutoring children several times a week. The first 2 weeks he had to purchase tutoring supplies and had losses of $40 and $65. The next 3 weeks he made a profit of $105, $70, and $140. At the end of the 6 weeks, he had a net profit of $252.1. Write an equation to find the profit or loss for the 6th week in this situation.

2. Solve your equation.

3. Was there a profit or a loss for that week?

4. What was James's average profit or loss for the 6 weeks?

Answers

He lost 252-6=246
he has $246 but he spent that so he would have $41
246 divided by 6=$41

The school that Lisa goes to is selling tickets to the annual talent show. On the first day of ticket sales the school sold 4 senior citizen tickets and 5 student tickets for a total of $102. The school took in $126 on the second day by selling 7 senior citizen tickets and 5 student tickets. What is the price each of senior citizen ticket and one student ticket?

Answers

The price of senior citizen ticket is 8 and price of student ticket is 14.

What is Equation?

Two or more expressions with an Equal sign is called as Equation.

Let x be the price of senior citizen ticket

y be the price of student ticket.

On the first day of ticket sales the school sold 4 senior citizen tickets and 5 student tickets for a total of $102.

4x+5y=102..(1)

The school took in $126 on the second day by selling 7 senior citizen tickets and 5 studenttickets.

7x+5y=126..(2)

Subtract equation 1 and 2

4x+5y-7x-5y=102-126

-3x=-24

Divide both sides by 3

x=8

Now let us find y

4(8)+5y=102

32+5y=102

Subtract 32 from both sides

5y=102-32

5y=70

y=14

Hence, the price of senior citizen ticket is 8 and price of student ticket is 14.

Let:
x = cost of senior citizen ticket
y = cost of student ticket

4x + 5y = 102
7x + 5y = 126

4x + 5y = 102
4x = 102 - 5y
x = (102 - 5y)/4
x = 102/4 - 5y/4

7x + 5y = 126
7(102/4 - 5y/4) + 5y = 126
(714/4 - 35y/4) + 5y = 126
-35y/4 + 5y = 126 - 714/4

note:
-35y/4 = -8.75y
714/4 = 178.5

-8.75y + 5y = 126 - 178.5
-3.75y = -52.5
y = -52.5/-3.75
y = 14

x = 102/4 - 5y/4
x = 102/4 - 5(14)/4
x = 8

x = cost of senior citizen ticket = $8/ea
y = cost of student ticket = $14/ea
