Factor the trinomial x2-4x-5

Answers

Answer 1
Answer:

Answer:

(x-5) (x+1)

Step-by-step explanation:

x^2-4x-5

We need to find what 2 numbers multiply to -5 and add to -4

-5*1 = -5

-5+1 = -4

(x-5) (x+1)

A rational number can be written as the ratio of one blank to another and can be represented by a repeating or blank decimal

Answers

we know that

A rational number is the quotient of two integers with a denominator that is not zero , and can be represented by a repeating or terminating decimal.

Repeating Decimal is a decimal number that has digits that go on forever

Terminating decimal is a decimal number that has digits that do not go on forever.

examples

(1)/(3) = 0.333... (the 3 repeats forever)----> Is a Repeating Decimal

0.25 (it has two decimal digits)----> Is a Terminating Decimal

therefore

the answer is

A rational number can be written as the ratio of oneinteger to another and can be represented by a repeating or terminating decimal

A rational number can be written in the form:

(p)/(q); \ called \ the \ ratio \n \n where \ p \ and \ q \ are \ whole \ numbers

The number $q$ isn't equal to zero because the division by zero is not defined. So we can represent rational numbers by a repeating or terminating decimal, for instance in the following four exercises we have:

(2)/(3)=0.6666...=0.\stackrel{\frown}{6} \n \n (5)/(8)=0.625000...=0.625\stackrel{\frown}{0} \n \n (3)/(1)=3.000...=3.\stackrel{\frown}{0} \n \n (3446)/(2475)=1.392323...=1.39\stackrel{\frown}{23}

Help with some math homework? The area of a triangle is 110 square inches. the height of the triangle is 8 less than 3 times its base. what are the height and base of the triangle?

Answers

A = h x b; where A = area of a triangle; h = height of the triangle; b = base of the riangle;
So, we have the equation : 110 = (3b - 8)b;
We solve the equation 3b^2 - 8b - 110 = 0;
The positiv solution  is b = 7.53 cm;
h = 3 x 7.53 - 8;
h = 14.59 cm;

A rectangular flower bed measures 10 m and by 6m. It has a path 2 m wide around it. Find the area of the path.

Answers

The area of the path is 80 square meters.

What is a rectangle?

A rectangle is a 2-D shape with length and width.

The length and width are different.

If the length and width are not different then it is a square.

The area of a rectangle is given as:

Area = Length x width

We have,

To find the area of the path,

We need to subtract the area of the inner rectangle from the area of the outer rectangle.

So,

The outerrectangle has dimensions 14m by 10m (adding 2m to each side of the flower bed), so its area is:

A outer = 14m x 10m = 140 m²

Now,

The innerrectangle has dimensions 10m by 6m (the original dimensions of the flower bed), so its area is.

A inner = 10m x 6m = 60 m²

Now,

The area of the path.

A path = A outer - A inner

           = 140 m² - 60 m²

           = 80 m²

Thus,

The area of the path is 80 square meters.

Ok I just did a test on this and my teacher taught me how to do it, For problem like number 3 with the table of numbers, You take the first to sets like -1,-5 and 1,1....Then   you do 1 - (-5) =  your answer then 1 - (-1) = your answer than you get 6 and 2  ...you want to divided those numbers 6/2 = 3 and that is positive so #3 is positive.                                                                                                                       Same thing for #4  1,-2 and 2,-6       -6 - (-2) = x      2 - 1 = x  x/x  I want you to solve #4 for yourself        #2 is already done  y = -4x + 5  just take the -4 and -4 is negative so #2 is negative.   Then #1  I have a hard time with those but I think it's positive
