Identify your human rights violation and explain in a introductory paragraph why you choose the specific human rights

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: One type of human rights violation that is particularly appalling to me is torture. On the one hand, torture is often followed by murder, and it has no other objective than increasing the suffering.

Even if torture is not followed by murder, it leaves life-long scars -mental and physical- on the person and can also lead the person to become perpetrators themselves, leading to a circle of violence.

What must you do in the rebuttal of your argument to challenge a writer’s evidence? Explain why it makes sense. Question his character. Explain his position. Present more recent evidence.

Answers

Present more recent evidence.

You don't want to lend credence to the opposing side, therefore choice 1 and 3 wouldn't work. Character has nothing to do with argument, so choice 2 wouldn't make sense either.

D. Present more recent evidence.

When providing a rebuttal in an argument that challenges a writer’s evidence, one thing you could do is present more recent evidence.  Because things change all of the time, it is completely possible that a writer is basing his or her arguments on antiquated information.  Thus, by presenting research that is more current, you will discredit the validity of an argument which is based upon earlier info.  For instance, if a writer presents a claim that 3G phone service is the fastest out there and supports that claim with evidence from 10 years ago, by providing evidence that is current with a counterclaim, you would not only challenge his claim, but disprove it.  As such, presenting the most recent evidence is always best.

What type of figurative language is used in this sentence from To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee?People moved slowly then. There was no hurry, for there was nowhere to go, nothing to buy, and no money to buy it with, nothing to see outside the boundaries of Maycomb County.

metaphor
alliteration
hyperbole
euphemism
oxymoron

Answers

The answer is hyperbole. It is very unlikely that there was absolutely no money, absolutely nothing to buy, and absolutely nowhere to go. A hyperbole is a gross exaggeration, meaning that what is being said has been expanded to prove a point. In this case, the point is being that the Great Depression was difficult for everyone.
