A. 38
B. 24
C. 12
D. 19

Answer 1
Answer:

Answer:

A. 38

Step-by-step explanation:

Let d = number of dimes.

Let n = number of nickels.

First equation:

There are twice as many dimes as nickels. The number of dimes is 2 times the number of nickels. The first equation is:

d = 2n

Second equation:

The value of a dime is $0.10. The value of a nickel is $0.05. The value of d number of dimes is 0.1d. The value of n number of nickels is 0.05n. The total value of d dimes and n nickels is 0.1d + 0.05n. We are told the total value of her dimes and nickels is $4.75. That gives us the second equation:

0.1d + 0.05n = 4.75

We have two equations and two unknowns, so we can answer this question by solving a system of two equations in two unknowns.

d = 2n

0.1d + 0.05n = 4.75

We will use the substitution method.

Since d = 2n, replace d in the second equation with 2n.

0.1(2n) + 0.05n = 4.75

0.2n + 0.05n = 4.75

0.25n = 4.75

n = 4.75/0.25

n = 19

Now that we know the number of nickels, we use the equation d = 2n to find the number of dimes.

d = 2n

d = 2 * 19

d = 38

Find six tenths of 80cm

Answers

The best thing to do here is to find 1/10th then multiply.
To do this, divide your number (80) by 10
80/10= 8
As you're looking for sixth tenths, you need to multiply this by 6
8*6= 48
Therefore, six tenths of 80cm is 48cm
Hope this helps :)
you could change 6 tenths to a percentage, multiply 6 tenths by 100 over 1 and you get 60%, and the you get 60% of 80, put 80 over 100 and multiply it by 60 and you get 48cm

Determine the slope of a parallel to the folling line 9x + 7y = 10

Answers

Recall that the slope formula is y=mx+b (m is the slope)

You need to first get y by itself, to do that you subtract 9x on both sides of the equation

9x+7y=10         subtract 9x to the left side where it will cancel it because you're adding a positive to a negative number that are the same, then you subtract 9x to the right side of the equation

when you do that you should get: 7y= -9x+10

Now you divide 7 on both sides

you then should get: y= -9/7x-10/7

Plzzzzz help............Twelve decreased by twice a number is the same as 8 times the sum of the number plus 4. What is the number?Is the equation 2x-12=8(x+4)

Answers

Okay, the equation would be 12 - 2x = 8(x + 4), you got close!

what i would do first is distribute to get rid of those evil parenthesis and make  this all simple ^-^

So, we take 8 times x, and 8 times 4.

Our equation, is now 12 - 2x = 8x + 32

Now, what i would do, is simplify it. Get x to one side, and a whole number to the other. Well, for me it would be easier to keep the larger number on the right, and x on the left!

So we have to be fair, and keep it equal! So, i would start with.... subtracting 32. Since its a positive 32, to cancel it out we have to subtract 32, to get to zero! so, by subtracting 32 on both sides ( 12 - 32 and 32 - 32) we end up with -20 - 2x = 8x

Now looking at - 20 - 2x = 8x, i can see what i need to do. i need to get x to one side, and whole numbers to the other. There are no whole numbers on the right, just variables and coefficients, so i have to get that x away from the left!

So, im going to add 2x on both sides, to eliminate it! So we add 2x on the left to cancel it out, and add 2 x on the right to balance it out! We are now left with -20 = 10x

Now what we do is we get rid of that tag along right by the x! Yep, that little 10 there! He has to go!

How to we get rid of him? Well, he is being multiplied by the x! So, we have to do the opposite and divide to get him alone. So, we divide by 10 on both sides, and we are left with -2 = x!

Now, time to check your answer! Basically, you replace x with -2 in the equation! Here we go:

12 - 2(-2) = 8(-2 + 4)

First we should start with multiplying! when we multiply the -2 in the equation, we get 12 + 4 = 8(2), and we can finish that off by simplifying it to 12 + 4 = 16

when we simplify it and add 12 + 4, we get 16. So we are left with 16 = 16.

This equation is true, so we are right! -2 DOES equal x!
