if you were a scientist developing a drug that would block viral replication, which steps would you block? Explain.

Answers

Answer 1
Answer:

Answer:

The answer to this question would be: antiviral agents that block any of the steps in the transcription process, since without newly produced RNA, or DNA for the new virions, it would be impossible for the virus to replicate itself and thus spread out to infect further. An example of such a drug is aciclovir, and what they do is inhibit, or prevent, the transcription process, either of DNA, or RNA depending on the invading virus, so that viral proteins cannot be coded for and the new virions cannot be assembled.

These agents usually are nucleotide analogues that mimick the DNA, or RNA, that the virus will need in order to replicate its genetic material for the new viruses. However, since they are not the correct material, these analogues will inhibit correct replication, or further coding, of the genetic material. This in turn will ensure that either no proteins, or weak proteins, will be produced and the virus will be left weakened for the attack of the immune system.

Answer 2
Answer:  If you were to develop the drug, you would want it to only stop replication in the virus and NOT in the human. Therefore, you want to only block the steps that are unique to the virus. Don't know if that helps, but it's a start.

Most of the water vapor in Earth's atmosphere comes from _____.sublimation and transpiration
infiltration and surface runoff
rain, sleet, hail, snow, and freezing rain
oceans, seas, lakes, and rivers

Answers

Most of the water vapour in the earth's atmosphere comes from oceans, seas, lakes and rivers. Heat from the sun causes water to evaporate from these water bodies. Once water evaporates it becomes a gas. Water vapour rises, cools and condenses to from clouds. Cloud formation leads to precipitation (rain, sleet, snow, hail).

The allele for brown eyes is dominant to the allele for blue eyes.Write down suitable symbols for these alleles.

Answers

B=Brown dominant
b=Blue recessive

Possible Geno and Phenotypes

BB=Brown eyes

Bb= Brown eyes

bb= Blue eyes

Final answer:

In genetics, dominant alleles are often represented by capital letters and recessive alleles by lower-case letters. Therefore, the allele for brown eyes can be symbolized as 'B' and the allele for blue eyes as 'b'.

Explanation:

In genetics, capital letters are used to represent dominant alleles, while lower-case letters are used to represent recessive alleles. Therefore, we can use 'B' as the symbol for the dominant brown eye allele and 'b' for the recessive blue eye allele. When both 'B' alleles are present (BB), or when a 'B' and a 'b' allele are present (Bb), the individual will have brown eyes, because 'B' is dominant. However, when both 'b' alleles are present (bb), the individual will have blue eyes, because the blue eye allele can only be expressed when the dominant allele is not present.

Suppose there are 500 units of energy available for the producer level of energy pyramid approximately how many units are in it are available in the first level consumer

Answers

Always 10% of the energy is passed on to the next trophic level and 90% is lost... mostly heat: so if the producer has 500 units of energy then the primary consumer has 10% fromm 500 = so 50 units of energy is passed on to the next trophic level.

Diatoms have cell walls composed of _____.A. silicon dioxide
B. carbon dioxide
C. chitin

Answers

Answer: A. Silicon dioxide

Diatoms are unicellular algae that are found in the freshwater, brackish and marine water. These organisms exhibit cell wall that are made up of silica that is hydrated silicon dioxide. This type of cell wall is called as frustule. The cell wall is divided into two valves called as thecae.
