Each morning a deli worker has to make several pies and peel a bucket of potatoes. on Monday it took the worker 2 h to make the pies and an average of 1.5 min to peel each potato. on Tuesday the worker finished the work in the amount of time but it took 2.5 h to make the pies and an average of 1 min to peel each potato. about how many potatoes are in a bucket?• what qualities do you know and how are they related to each other?
• how can you use the known and unknown quantities to write an equation for this situation?

Answers

Let the number of Potatoes = P

On Monday the time spent was 2 hours + 1.5*P minutes
Convert the time to make the pies into minutes = 120 minutres
Therefore on Monday the worker took

120 + 1.5P minutes

On Tuesday the worker took 2.5 hours (150 minutes) + 1minute x P
ie
150 + P minutes

We are told that the times are the same therefore
120 + 1.5P = 150 + P
subtract P from both sides of the equation
120 + 0.5P = 150
Subtract 120 from both sides of the equation
0.5P = 30

Therefore P = 30/0.5 = 60

There are 60 potatoes in the bucket.

Garth estimated the height of the door to his classroom in meters .What is a reasonable estimate?

Answers

The height of a door will be around 6 feet and 8 inches, so about 7 feet. You will need to convert this to meters. To do this, you should first know that 1 meter = 3.28 feet. Now, divide 7 by 3.28:

7/3.28 = 2.134

So, a reasonable estimate would be 2 meters.
For this case, the first thing you should do is compare the height of the door with the height of a person.
On average, a person's height is between the following values:
 1.40 meters - 1.80 meters
Therefore, we must find an amount that is greater than the maximum amount of a person's height.
Therefore, a reasonable measure for the height of the door is:
 2 meters
 Answer:

a reasonable estimate is 2 meters.

Your model locomotive is 18 inches long. It is an exact model of a locomotive that is 72 feet long. A window on the locomotive is how many times wider than a window on the model?

Answers

Your model locomotive (x) = 18 inches
72 feet (y)= 72*12 inches
            = 864 inches

Ratio = x:y
          = 18:864
          = 18/864
          = 1/48
          = 1:48
