What foreign policy agenda was set during the Cold War?a)Neutral
b)Containment
c)Isolationist
d)Imperialist

Answers

Answer 1
Answer:

Answer:  b) Containment

Explanation/context:

The policy of containment focused on keeping communism and the Soviet Union's influence limited, rather than by trying to confront the Soviet Union directly or eliminate communism completely.  It influenced US foreign policy by prompting intervention in places like Korea to stop the spread of communism.

George F. Kennan recommended the policy of containment which set the tone for US involvement in world relations following World War II.  Kennan was an American diplomat in Moscow after World War II.  In 1946, he sent what became known as "the long telegram" of his advice about what the USA needed to do about the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR).

In those days, everyone feared an ultimate confrontation between the USA and the USSR -- that the Cold War would someday explode into a massive heated conflict between the superpowers.  Kennan, in Moscow, had much foresight to see the internal problems the USSR had.  He advised not pushing the conflict too much, but instead just try to "contain" the Soviet Union and wait for their system to collapse under the weight of its own problems.  Kennan was right.  It took almost 50 years, but eventually the communist system in the USSR fell apart.  [The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics came to an end in 1991.]

Hello there!
So, where the people settled, the place was very swamp. The water was very bad to drink. A lot of people got seawater poisoning, because they were drinking seawater. They also caught a lot of infections, and got poisoned. There were bad problems with mosquitoes and other bugs. In the area, there was not a lot of animals, so when they came, soon after there were no animals to hunt for.

1. As nations in Africa gained independence from colonial powers, some made relatively smooth transitions to self-rule while others experienced violence and upheaval. In some nations, the violence continues even today. What might have been done to help those nations transition to self-rule peacefully? Write a short essay that sets forth ideas on ways that violence and civil war might have been prevented.

Answers

The reason why some nations were more prosperous and were faster to acheive economic prosperity was due to multiple reasons. Some have had multiple and violent military coups which obviously played a big role in their violent transitions. Other experienced violent civil wars because different cultures had to live together. These two things both played a very important devastating role in the violent transitions.

What could have been done would have been that they would redraw the borders.
African input on the borders would have prevented some of the violent unrest.

Being Europeans drew the border lines, they did not understand tribal, ethnic, and religious differences between the native groups and this led to haphazard border lines.

Therefore, countries contained very different people who had been enemies before and/or during the colonial period. The feelings of resentment were allowed to resurface as groups fought for power power. This led to violent civil war and even genocide like in Rwanda. If the native groups would have been allowed to create their own borders, nation-states would have been created which would have led to unity and a more peaceful transition.
