A student notices that a reaction takes place faster when the temperature is higher. Which best explains why this happens?

Answers

Answer 1
Answer:

The reason why the reaction takes place faster when the temperature is higher is that the collision of particles of the object increases. In order to have a faster reaction, you would need the particles of the object to get excited and increase its collision to other particles. This can be achieved through increasing the temperature.

Why does it take less time for small rocks to wear away than it does for large rocks to wear way?

Answers

If you take one large rock it only wears away on its surface.

If you now break that rock in half the surface is the old outside AND the new break in half - therefore more surface area to wear away. Break these two halves again and there is more surface area to wear away.

Keep going and break your large rock into many pieces and you get small rocks which wear away much quicker.
It is because that small rocks are lighter than large rocks. It is hard for larger rocks because they are very heavy.

Suppose you test a gas in the laboratory. You learn that the gas is made up of carbon atoms and oxygen atoms. Is the gas a compound?

Answers

Maybe, but she hasn't proved it yet. As another example, somebody may bring a jar of gas to your laboratory, and you test the gas in the jar and you find nitrogen atoms, oxygen atoms, argon atoms, and krypton atoms, and there isn't a single compound in it. The gas in the jar is a MIXTURE of gases . . . a mixture that we call "Air".
Yes,in chemistry,a compound formed by chemical union of two or more elements or ingredients in definite proportion by weight,for instance,CO2.

I a liter jar contains 0.5 moles of gas at a pressure of 2 ATM what is the temperature of the gas

Answers

Answer:

The temperature of the gas is 48.75 Kelvin.

Explanation:

Using the ideal gas equation as shown

PV = nRT where;

P is the pressure of the gas in ATM

V is the volume of the gas

n is the number of moles

R is the ideal gas constant

T is the temperature in Kelvin

From the formula, T = (PV)/(nR)

Given the following parameters V = 1litre, n = 0.5moles. pressure = 2ATM

R = 0.08206 atm L/molK

On substituting to get the temperature we have:

T = (2*1)/(0.08206*0.5) \nT = (2)/(0.04103)\nT = 48.75Kelvin

An explosion occurs 340 km away. Given that sound travels at 340 m/s, the time the sound takes to reach you is a. 1 s.
b. 10 s.
c. 100 s.
d. 200 s.
e. more than 200 s.

(340,000 meters) / (340 meters/sec)  =  1,000 seconds

That's more than 200 sec.
first convert 340km into 340,000m, and 340000/340=1000. So the answer is e.
